        Wait...

        1) You have an e30 that you said you never want to get rid of or trade?

        2) dad gets a wiff of you admiring your e30 so much and thinks its a nice car too

        3) DAD BUYS YOU AN X5 SO YOU CAN PERSERVE THAT CHARIOT OF AN E30

        4) you get online and complain about it... jk I know you'r enot really trying to complain..

but still... if my parents bought me an x5 so I can save my e30 for sunny days I'd be all over that shit!!!

Just let it happen dude... shhhhh.... just let it happen

i would drive the X5 and make the E30 a toy. if you and your dad share a common interest and you both work together with it, that's awesome. none of us can say anything otherwise.

As parents, we want to make sure our kid would not have to go through those hardships (and I mean hard!). I am sure your parents would want to do the same for you. Remember to express some appreciation to your dad. Your last post shows that you are a fine young man.
^Thank you both for your support and inputs! I definitely have learned to appreciate them for their help. Especially since my dad's a mechanic at BMW, it really saves my family a lot of $ on repairs and parts.

we are all from different back grounds. I bought all my cars, and house, paid my own insurance since 16, my parents really didnt buy me anything. And I am extremely thankful for it because I respect my things alot more since they are actually mine. Plus I feel more prideful not taking handouts.

If your mommy and daddy buy you everything=spoiled

Just dont turn into one of those douche kids who butch and whine in the real world when shit doesnt go there way
^shows that you are definitely a hard-working man and I respect that, but might make you think that everyone else that gets a car passed down seems spoiled :/

^haha yeah did tell him since I don't find it necessary, but he thinks it's a good deal for an '01 X5 3.0 with about 100k miles for 4.5k

yeah you are completely right on those points and now I can see why everyone thinks of me as being spoiled or something, but it's not like I would just drive X5 during winter and E30 all other seasons because I would tell my parents to take the E30 off their insurance since my dad wants to keep it in garage and make me drive the x5 and 5 insured cars sure ain't cheap

How can you possibly think you're not a spoiled brat when you're complaining that your dad has given you 2 vehicles?

              Grow up.

I get you man. It's a great deal but if you want to start saying you don't want anything from your parents and you want to do on your own then start living it. Or else this is sounding like some political debate thread ;)

I missed why the e30 has to be tucked away for years and seemingly ignored. I dont know exactly where in NY you are but I remember growing up in western NY where we had 4 seasons, 3 of which were great to drive the e30 and one which you can if you need to but its nice to put it away since the layer of salt takes so long to go away. I would say abuse the x5 all winter and let that rot away while the e30 can be preserved for the better months.

And not throw the spoiled thing in again but you have to realize there are kids with parents that can barely afford cars for themselves, let alone the idea of passing multiple high end cars to there kids. Trying to figure out how to handle being offered a second BMW by the time your 20, taking a guess because you said student, is certainly as was said above, first world problems.

Also, taking the e30 off the insurance is a bad idea and can be a dumb mistake. Unless your house insurance covers everything in the garage but still someone could steal it or something.
