    If we had cupholders...

    Where would we want one?

I have ALWAYS needed a cup holder. For the 11 years of owning nothing but e30s, I think this is a problem. I know there are the ones under the radio, but they just block my knuckles.

I would like to throw some ideas around to start designing a bolt in cup holder.

I have been pondering some of my own designs and spots to make one.

For me it should be; in reach while driving, yet clearance for the passenger.
I have been thinking right behind the window switches on the right.

If you have some ideas with pictures please post up. Does not have to be from a BMW.

If I needed one, by the passenger window switches, as you mentioned is where i'd put it.

I remember seeing someone made a center console with 2 cup holder molded in next to the e-brake, it looked really nice

A cheaper version of a husco will be just fine as the cup holder part is retractable. That is a plus.

I hated my husco. With a drink in, it's in the way of shifting.

I was thinking about it the other day. I thought the spot where the 13 button obc/analog clock go would be a good spot.

I think the spot next to the parking brake is the best, I really want to get one of the ones from sfgadgetguy. Too many recent purchases....

The front one just seems too cramped/in the way, and the rear ashtray is too far back for anyone in the front to use.

One that fits into an air vent.

The cupbolder takes up lower 1/2 the vent and the cupholder is a retractible setup that pops out and is stored back in the lower half.

This way you can choose which vent you want to use or install two of them and still have net usage.

I could probably design it but I'd need a couple of hundred preorders to manufacture it.

The cupholders in my e30, never get in the way and are able to hold almost any coffee or can of pop, no mcfatty sized drinks though

The passenger works great as a cup holder. It even talks to you! Between the center console and passenger seat works or in front of my crotch works well enough.
