For the amount of time involved, and because you have to bash the shit out of your firewall... and the weight... and you are putting an OLDER engine in... why bother?
At least do a M50, but even that is teh suck.

The firewall mod can't bee seen once the motor is in place and has no adverse effects on the car.. Also - the m30b35 was used till 1989(?). It's not exactly an older motor considering e30's went till 1991.
The cost is about that of a nice m20 build up. Plus you get a timing chain, 3.5L and a LOT of future potential(boost, ect...)
Oh - And I think they look preaty DAM good...

Well, is there a big difference in acceleration compared to the M20? Do you really feel a big difference? i know there is a weight difference, and you dont HAVE to break the firewall.. (unless you're trying to get the exhaust past the passenger footboards)

Personally compared to the other non motor sport engin swaps, I believe the M30 swap is the best suited for the e30, for all you nay sayers you've never drivin one have you? I didn't think so.
I didn't even notice the extra weight, it isn't that much heavier despite what everyone thinks.
