I need some guidance on patent(s) if anyone has had any experience in getting an idea materialized please let me know. I have made a new engine prototype that will change the economy and the automotive industry as far as mpg, reliability and performance. I know it sounds like a fairy tale but i've already talked to bmw north america and engine head chief r&d designer in Munich about the prototype and they are very interested but in order to go further he said that I needed to be insured (have a patent) so thats where I'm at. I'm kinda leery in who to trust with my idea and at the same time don't want to be waiting years for a patent to be approved. Just heard too many horror stories about people being charged way too much or the law firm not doing their job. Any kind of experience would be great. Thank you.

Wouldn't BMW have helped you out with the patent if it was such a revolutionary idea? I mean I couldn't see them wanting to risk letting anyone else here about this if it was such a good idea. But I have seen a few guys around here help out with patents so hopefully one of them chimes in. Let's not let this become another thread like this...

They want me to do all the patent work and make damn sure nothing will go wrong legally because they get tons of ideas 99.7% failures when they find the idea has already been patent. BMW is very smart not to just dive into what looks like a gold mine but take the time to do things right like their cars.sigpic

yeah laugh all you want. All I asked was for some help on patents from my fellow BMW enthusiast and so far all I get Is jokes and bs. I am not here to waste anyones time and I am not like that other guy with the turbo. I have done my research and been in contact with BMW for the past 4 months, it takes roughly a week and a half to get responses back from them in germany thats why I am only at this point. Please if you have nothing to say that will help then don't post at all.sigpic
