didnt you post this on Bimmerforums Offtopic awhile ago and it turns out your "engine" was so ridiculous and farfetched that you were laughed out of the thread/forum?

If you are for real and want to get something patented then I can forward you to the firm I use, but understand the process to get a patent is not cheap and could take a while without any guarantee that you will even get it.

Wow, we seriously need some moderator help in this thread. I cannot believe that such an innovative idea is received with such a ridiculous response. I happen to known the OP personally and can vouch that i have seen these first draft renderings of his engine. They are legit and if approved they will change the way we think of engines. The fact that you are treating this like children is really why BMW would like him to get this patented first. There are millions of engine patents out today, all he said he needs is some input from someone that has been through this process before. It is not hard to do people, please either refer him if you know someone or please choose to post these kinds of comments somewhere else. Thread crapping is not cool anymore. I am begging the moderators to chime in if i am wrong. Please do not associate his idea with others you have heard, or discuss and thread jack for your purposes. Hopefully we are all adults here can help his guy get this project going so that we can all benefit in the end. Wow i really had no idea my favorite E30 forum would be this childish about this.

We use a local patent firm here at my work. I have personally been involved with the process.

Basically, you will need to pick a patent firm and they will give you all of the information you need, be it the requirements or the cost for them to write up the application.

Posting any more on here is pointless. You have to go to a patent firm and work from there. r3v can't help you anymore then that.

blefevre thank you for the info but I have already contacted a few law firms that deal with patents and just wanted to see if anyone one here has done the whole process and lmk how it went so I can be more prepared. Anything helps so posting anywhere wouldn't be pointless to me.

So, from the thread title, is this just a part that goes on an engine and makes it perform better, or is it an entire new direction of internal combustion? Part of me is thinking of the Miller cycle mazdas, part is envisioning a square wankel, and part is seeing a zero lag turbocharger.

It is an entire engine that is more reliable than a diesel as far as structure integrity, produces more HP/TQ per liter than any rotary, and yet gets 100+ mpg all while saving the manufacture and consumer money. The best part is that it doesn't use a head gasket (which is the weakest part in any engine) but is similar to your standard engine design. My engine design will be able to produce easily 250 hp per liter without breaking a sweat. It will be perfect for racing, towing, long trips or just reliability for those who want it. It will be very easy to tune for us modifiers well if bmw lets us into their system. And parts will be very easy to obtain. I have more but enough for now until I can get more done.

Sounds pretty slick. Have you built a working prototype yet?
