I think it's a great car, but I still can't have more fun driving anything else beside my E30. I've been cursed.Comment

An Sti version of the car would be pretty darn fun to drive.
280 doesn't seem like a whole lot these days, I mean I know the car is 2758 lbs but still. Why couldn't they just really tune it out to 300.. or more?
Well, i'm sure Cobb Tuning will be able to fix that problem. I'm a huge Subaru fan and it would be interesting to go back to a Subie again.
I just don't think I want to spend 32k (or whatever it will come out to) on another car. The nice thing about the E30 is that it doesnt cost anything to drive but gas and insurance.
If my E30 ever feels slow I can always supercharge it at Castros or something.
I've sat in a FRS and let me tell you, it's FREAKING tiny. The E30 has ALOT more interior volume and luggage space. It's a totally different class when it comes to room. STI BRZ sales will not eat into WRX sales simply because it can't haul jack crap.
I'm 5'6 165 lbs and the FRS made me feel like I was wearing spandex when I sat inside. The backseats are TOTALLY useless unless you just want to stuff a backpack or something back there,-ArtComment

A friend has an FRS and I've had a chance to drive it. I like it. The steering is very sharp. The seating position is excellent. The engine is a little uninspiring. The same $25k will buy a good used Lotus Elise. Another ~$6k puts a supercharger on it and takes it to 260 hp in a 2000 lb car. I like the FRS. But I love the Elise.Comment

I will be getting one the day it comes out and likely say goodbye to the E30s.

i haven't had the opportunity to drive one yet so I'm receiving my judgement until then, the styling isn't my favorite but that largely due to the wheels, it does however look different than every other car on the road and i like that88 325is Five SpeedLachssilberComment

Both the FRS and BRZ would be hella fun cars. You know they can be modded out. I mean shit, the first e30's were m10's with boatloads of power... and by that i mean about as much power as a dingy. It would be stupid to think that these cars dont evolve over the next few years. And being they are toyota/subaru, there are going to be tons of affordable aftermarket parts.
If i felt like having a low'ish car payment for a sports car, I would seriously consider an FRS98 M3/4/5

Accelerated performance is making 631hp hp at the moment. They are running e85 and a gt30/35r, oh yea on the stock ecu. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me. And the motor is still the same stock fa20 no headstuds, arp bolts nothing. Stock.Comment

I've had a chance to sit in a BRZ briefly. Seating position and ergonomics are very nice. Doesn't have the 'greenhouse' effect like the E30 so rearward visibility isn't as good. It sort of reminds me of my Porsche 924 from years ago.
In reading the various articles and videos published about this car and the FRS, the focus seems to be more on the driving experience it delivers. A lot of bench racers have talked about how, based on reading specs alone, its just not good enough. I bet the base car would be a blast....sure its not uber fast but the handling and feedback are its strong points, much like a mildly tuned (stock powered E30 325i). And that's what reviewers who have driven this car are saying. You can access all of the performance a lot of the time. Nowadays when you have a sports oriented car with 300+ BHP on tap, to unwind and get the most out of its performance you either run the risk of making some cops' day or wait until you get to an auto-x or track day event.
In a few years, when depreciation has set in on the early examples, finding one priced in the mid-teens could be common.

Discussing dropping $25k to void and otherwise negate the benefits of buying a new car is a bit absurd.Comment
