If you have salt water in the car, about the only thing that will save the shell is acid dipping - otherwise, you have salt in every single nook and cranny and it will be a rust bucket soon. If it is fresh water from rain, then you can probably save it.

As Long as you're insurance covers flood your cars will be paid for, if you can try to keep the title from salvage, otherwise buy it back from insurance and fix it.

Remember you're talking about an area where we live, where this has never happened before...as long as I've been living here....so for you to say to 'that you didn't know what was coming' is way off. We totally didn't expect this storm to be as destructive as it was. Forget abuot protecting the E30s....for me that was last on my list of 'priorities'....i was more concerned about keeping my house, family and friends safe, then my car.....which I'm sure the OP was thinking at the time. Unfortunately his cars took the brunt of the damage, but material things can always be replaced.

And for anyone who doubts that coastal areas were the only areas that had flooding...see images linked below.

I don't care where you live, it still could have been easily avoided in many ways. He obviously doesn't care that much about his e30 or he would have taken action to save it. House, family, and friends have nothing to do with it, you don't have to choose between them, that doesn't stop you from moving your car.
If there was even the slightest chance of flooding near me I would have my car out of there. Even if you want to argue that you didn't expect to get flooded because you weren't in a flood zone, you could have still taken action once the water level started creeping up.
Look at this guy, he lives in south jersey right on the shore, one of the hardest hit places that the hurricane went directly over, and he still managed to find a way to save his e30...

I would have done whatever it takes to save mine.

i don't understand the need to bash someone for their misfortunates. If you came here and posted about a tree falling on your E30....out of sheer unluckiness, i'm sure I and everyone else here would show some kind of compassion for your loss....yet you feel a need to sh*t in this thread? I'm not sure i get it....whatever the case may be, driving in/around my area, cars are the least of everyones concerns....i hope a major tragedy like this one ever hits your area.....Things happen, shit happens....some things you can prevent, others you can't predict.
