    f%$k.............Sandy flooded my vert

Not sure how it happened but a wave of water came rushing in. With in mintues cars were under water. My wifes X3 had water to the hood, Denali had water to front grille and vert had water to front door on inclined driveway. Tried to open the door of the vert to drive it up on the grass more but door would not open. Mintues later i had to rush inside the house because water was rushing into my 1st floor. Mintues after that water was coming in the threw the front door. I looked outside and vert was 3/4 under water, x3 you could only see the top of the hood and Denali had water to the side glass.

Looked inside vert today and opened the glove box to see if i was lucky. FU Sandy.....Water gushed out. I only had liability on vert because i was not finished restoring it. I have another engine to swap into it but would it be worth it? Would I have to rewire the whole car? I know it will to be a PITA to have an electical problem. The whole interior needs to be removed clean. I am pissed. I do not want to RIP the e30.

Id be more worried about the dirt/debris that gets everywhere... bearings, seals, etc...

That's terrible. I can't imagine the car being salvaged after being that flooded unless you did a complete extensive restoration but it would be a lot easier to get another car.

Damn... they are going to be write offs. You are parting out. Worried about rust too.

I hate floods. It's just a sinking feeling that you know some E30s are gone. Been there somewhat, not exactly done that. Was near a flood.

When i show you i need you to post a pic of that tear drop thats going to role down your face. No electric. I am on my phone. I will post pics hopefully tomorrow from cousins house. The cost effect vs the blood sweat tears i put into this car is making the decision hard.

Condolences. You never did a build thread, but I recall you putting a lot of work and nice parts into that vert. Sad that the first glimpse we'll get will be in post-flooded state.

Well if it was me I would see it as the oppertunity to start a ground up rebuild. But that is me. Dose suck non the less.

Slow build but i have been taking pictures to start one. I was hoping to start in Feb. My neighbors son bought an e46 with my car in mind. He is 17. If it was not for the curb and weight off the front engine his car would have floated away.

Floods really suck for cars. An e30 in my eyes would fare better since it's less electrically complicated, but it would definitely be hard to salvage. Maybe if you clean out everything you can and let it dry for a few days it may not be too badly damaged (although that seems wishful). How bad is the visible damage to interior pieces and such?
The first car I ever rode in was an e30
