I've been told this by a few older guys (50's +). I don't get it. I've never seen a girl driving an e30 around here. I mean, it doesn't matter. If it's a big deal to you then you have bigger sexual and mental issues than can be solved by driving a "man's" car.

A LOT more people called my 2002 'cute' than the E30. My girlfriend liked the personality of the 2002 a lot more, but I think the more time she spends in the E30 the more it grows on her. I also got a sfgadgetguy cupholder, which helped her a lot. ;)
