Request - want to know your download speed...

Click on the below link - note the time in seconds before you do - and please tel me

a.) LOOK AT WATCH - note time...
b.) 56k, cable or dls - and if wireless or not
c.) time to see all images(site finished downloading)
d.) report time and your connection method...

I do some web design from time to time - and I didn't exactly make this site 56k friendly and need to know how it's dowloading - great price on the server (ehosting.ca = unlimited bandwidth)...

Unforentually my hosting company does not ping it's users - and unless someone can suggest an alterntive way of testing a website and hoting company (that I would love!) let me know...

    Please post back...

    Thanks in advance....

I got about 7 secs on horribly slow (256kbps down) DSL here at home.

I don't see anything that should make that site bandwidth intensive. Its very, very simple actually. I took me 6 or 7 seconds on a cable connection with wireless connectivity on this particular computer.

~8 seconds on a crappy customer cable setup with 6 other PC's hogging BW.

You really like that template, don't you?

Write a header.php file and include it on every webpage. In the header file, do a quick ping and record it to a file with the IP address,ping-time:

                          1.2.3.4,2
                          1.2.3.4,1
                          2.1.3.4,2
                          3.1.2.4,5
                          4.3.2.1,1

OR.... you can place a javascript in the header, and another javascript in the footer that will time how long it took to load the page...

OR.... you can do the same javascript thing in its own hidden iframe which loads a set amount of data (say... 50kb). From that, you would know if the user has broadband or not. A 56k user will take 10 seconds to get that 50kb file, but a broadband user will have it in a second.
