I lived near Idyllwild (5000-6000 ft elevation) for 12 years, it snows so much up there that you sometimes have to wait for neighbors with a snowplow to clear the road for you. :p

Alright touché...I just get fed up with SoCal guys that think, but have no idea what's snows like...I grew up in the upper Midwest...4 feet + on average

yeah, E30 ABS isn't over zealous. if you're careful you can still threshold brake without ABS interfering. And generally, if it does come on you're probably doing something wrong. It's also useful for slalom sections on slippery/wet courses with left-foot braking.

So BMW/Bosch got it right in the 80s, and other companies STILL haven't figured it out? WTF.

Then again I repeatedly watch people try to stop in big 3 vehicles in corners, and they always manage to lock and slide - or just fail to stop. Always watching my mirror, trying to leave an escape route if I think they're gonna hit me.

Turner has a retrofitable 4 channel motorsport abs system, built on a re-programmed BMW system - that must be tits.

BMW is my rallycar, but subie is my daily. I can drive RWD in the snow fine (did it for years), but AWD and Dunlop Wintersports makes it child's play :)

I hear ya - my e30 works until it's beached - before my new exhaust you could see where it was dragging the pipes through the snow.

Subaru is known for having crappy ABS - everyone I know that ice-x/rally-x one pulls the ABS fuse so they can actually stop. e30 BOSCH abs FTW.

Yeah, I've heard that as well over the years....but it must be the older ones. I've found on my 09 that the ABS is far less intrusive than any other ABS car I've owned (same with the TCS). I have no problem doing emergency stops in the snow with minimal ABS activation.

Despite all of the dick measuring going on I found the OP to be beneficial. I was unaware that classes were available at what sounds like a very reasonable price.
