Agreed but our market generally see's the shall I put it bluntly CRAP. Apple enforces strict quality control but that drives up the cost and from what I hear it's almost the same cost to build Ipad's and so forth here in the US or else where.

Wow, 4 pages of posts and 99% are worthless. I agree my friend is a dumbass for buying fake shit. I'm perfectly ok with parts being manufactured in china, alot of companies do this. But they also keep stringent quality control over the process. Where as knock off shit is made out of the cheapest materials they can use. When your buying legit stuff your not just paying for the part. Your paying for the hundreds of r&d hours, FEA analysis, testing, high quality materials. Here's an example, why are there no top notch turbo manifolds for m20's? Cause obx just copies them and sells them for half the price. Why should a company spend a crap load of money to design and make something that will just get copied? Theres actually quite a few legit companies that have been put out of business by the knock-off deals. Knock-off's aren't going to design new stuff, not going to test and make sure it works and lasts, and they sure as hell won't stand behind their product when it fails. Why would they, they already got your money and thats all they care about.

After purchasing a ebay wastegate (a tial copy) that he was so proud of his engine blew. Why? Cause the cheap copy stuck and his engine got close to 30lbs of boost. The moral of the story, his saving a couple bucks cost him an engine. It really pisses me off when I see posts where people are telling each other to just go buy the knockoff part from ebay. It's just as good isn't it? No it is not. Real parts from real companies are designed and engineered with tight tolerances, particular metal alloys, ect.. Basically there designed to work correctly. Where as the china copy is just that, a copy. It's made to look like the real thing, not to work like it. Guys wonder why companies don't make cool stuff for our cars, why should they if it's just going to get copied and sold for half the price. And all you cheap asses are going to buy the copy instead of the real thing. If you can't afford the good stuff, save up money. Don't just get the knock off. You want legit parts from legit companies, stop buying the fake stuff. The only person you have to blame for not having good parts available is you. Don't care if it engine parts, suspension, whatever. All buying fake stuff does is ruin the industry and hobby. And in alot of cases puts your own and others safety at risk. Rant over.

It's funny everyone was like yeah, eBay smileys are going be crap.

Well I bought them and they have the same/better light output and cut offs than 25 year old bosch smileys... who is surprised?

The morimoto H1 kit I bought is also made in China but it's pretty good stuff.

I beleive my knock off rota slipstreams are made in the Phillippines.. they seem to suit me just fine.

It's easy to blame knock offs or stuff made in china but let's face it.. everything is.

This is why I buy Samsung and LG.. at least they are made in Korea and NOT CHINA. I do feel that the craftmanship is better than brands that are made in China. (I'm only talking about home electronics here.)

There have been times where made in China was worthless.

A friend of mine with a 1969 GTX bought a valve cover from china (They are crazy pricey from an American company)It did not fit right and was a pile of shit.

The point is overgeneralization is just lame.

Some stuff that is knock off or sold on Ebay are sometimes just as good if not better than the real thing.

I vouch for this... I brought cheap lugnuts for my other car.

50kms later they stripped and I was left with 3 wheels :l

Buying cheap parts for a car is like having an ugly girlfriend. You have to explain / rationalize your decision to bed that ugly whore - you have to explain that you saved a bunch of money by buying this "great" substitute for the real deal... and that it performs just as good as the real deal. Uh huh. Other dudes with ugly girlfriends come to your aid because they're in the same predicament - BUMPIN UGLIES. Just the same, your "e-buddies" on the forums come to your aid and defend your decision to purchase that piece of shit part because they're in the same boat. And you high-5 one another on the forums for buying the same cheap shit. Nice. You must high five yourself for having ugly girlfriends too.

The irony of this thread is that when the Japanese first started importing cars to the US they were made from recycled beer cans, fell apart in 3 years and the term Made in Japan meant...well...what it means to say Made in China today. Today we respect everything the Japanese make.

Now fast forward another 30 years to China...with 10x the population of Japan !!
