How do you guys feel about ///M stuff on non-M cars?

I'm thinking of purchasing a genuine BMW ///M shift knob for my 325i E30, I like the way it looks and it appears it'd perform well. Asking a few people they generally agree with me but I wanted to know how others in the BMW community felt about M logo'd stuff on a non-M car.

The way I see it, it doesn't matter much to me as long as the owner isn't claiming to have an actual M car. From what I've read it's my understanding the M stands for Motorsports, so wouldn't it be fitting on any BMW that was used for Motorsports? I think the M logo would be right at home on a modified BMW, M* or not.

    What do you guys think?

I bought a m lighted shift knob two days ago for my 318is :) I am turboing it but even if I wasn't doing a big mod like that I still would have bought that shift knob. I think you have to be carefull of it (ie like not putting a mbadge on the back of your car) but it can be fine. I say go for the knob you were lookin at...it looked good and its leather.

i have an e36 m3 illuminated shift knob on my car, bought it for 10 bucks from a dude that upgraded to a sparco shift knob. works great and looks cool, i'm thinking of writing 42 next to M so it makes sense.

Your car wasn't used for motorsports. Not by BMW anyways.

I have no real M-parts on my car, but I rock the badge. That's because I'm a ricer who drives a 4-cylinder BMW. I mean, who does that?

I have ///M badges and colors in my interior (M-Tech II wheel, M colored ebrake and shift boots), but I won't put the ///M badges on the outside of the car. The actual ///M badge should be reserved for M cars, but something like the smaller M-Technic badge is not a big deal.

I agree, since my 325iS came stock with M stripes on the steering wheel, I would put M stuff on tastefully. Just my 2 cents... But any M3 badge on a non M car is a big NO-No

m on the outside is not acceptable. However the interior accents or so on tastefully done are fine by me. Just don't have a set of stripes on every surface.

                              haha.

                              Lets see I have

                              E36 M3 Lighted Shift Knob
                              E30 M3 Steering Rack

                              E30 M3 ABS Computer
E30 M3 4.10LSD (well its out of one at least)
                              E30 M3 Control Arm Bushings
                              M Roadster Shift Lever
                              M Roadster Differential Cover

I cannot think of anything else, I have a few e30 m3 parts not listed, but they are the same as a regular e30.
