Assumptions:
1. It's no E30
2. It is FWD
3. It is not German
4. In no way am I comparing this to a BMW or attempting any and all extended allegories that could even in the remotest of interpretations be thought to say ill of a 20 year old car vs. this car (Chevy Cruze)
That being said...
I have to travel a lot for my job, and with that comes an endless array of rental cars that generally suck balls on a level that makes even Perez Hilton seem straight. The Sentra, the Versa, the Malibu, the Altima, and the Stratus/200 have all been cars that make me weep for my E46. The worst car by far in my opinion though is the Corolla. What a total piece if shit! However, on my latest trip to Kansas City (the Corolla of US cities) I got a Chevy Cruze from Hertz and low and behold, it didn't suck. Mine had the 1.4 liter turbo which was surprisingly capable of moving the car along. The suspension was reasonably thought out and the interior seemed to be designed by someone who wanted people to not hate their lives after 5 minutes in it. It really was a decent econo-box.
Has anyone else driven one of these? I'm curious to see if R3v has had any experience with the Cruze. I'm not trying to buy one or anything, but compared to POS that was the Cobalt, it seems like GM really stepped up to the plate with this car.
