no. just use the jack in the trunk to jack up the FRONT left or right side. once the front wheel is off the ground, try to spin it. if it spins easy, the tc is fucked. if it just barely turns with great effort, the tc is good. the "according to hoyle" jack test is a waste of time.

btw: an ix has its own specific jack. if the jack is missing, it will be really hard to find the right one that doesn't mess up the paint on the side skirt every time you lift up the car.

good luck. i would lay odds at about 70% the wheel will spin free. hopefully you will get lucky. if the car was towed to the garage on anything other than a roll back, it is guaranteed to be messed up.

Get the eS if you like the handling of a rwd E30. I had decent snow's on my eS and it did well enough in the crap-weather.

With the eS you'll get huge tq & way better gas mileage than the iX. You can also lower it, dare I say the 's' word, if you like. It's overall lighter and quicker than the iX.

I had a 3.25 in mine with no other mods, and I could prettly easily pull 4th gear from just over 1000rpm. Typically around town I got 23pmg, and highway about 28-29 if I kept it at about 70-75mph. And it still handled liek every other rwd E30.

IX is out of the picture. needs new cv boots. She said the strut was replaced but i shook the wheel and it moved quite a bit while on the ground. I let go of the wheel and it would immediately turn to the left. And some other things. Im not familiar with the ix and dont feel like doing all the maintenance that is required. so onto the ES

Well i checked out the ES today, and well im interested but not for $3000. The hood has clear coat peeling, dash is cracked, OBC does not work, Something wrong with the ignition it only goes to accessory, but doesnt start so he said hes getting a key made just for the ingnition???. Exhaust is rigged up. Everything else seems to be fine.

keep looking, u can get a much more sorted e for that kind of money. look outside of your region and find a turn key car for 2800, fly there and drive home. you can have a r3v member close to it check it out for you.

Ok soo... This guy will not move from $3000 for the es and he is pissing me off. He keeps saying its easily worth that or even more. I said yes if it did not have over 200,000 miles, no dents (has 3), good valance (needs straightened out), good exhaust and good ignition. But he just thinks he has a diamond in his hands. ill pay $2000 for it but he probably will not do that.

So does anyone have a website or a value i can print off and bring to him on what the value for it is??

These are very general ranges. I'd say the one you are looking at is worth less than the asking price. Be patient, there are so many good deals if you are willing to wait for something you won't regret to come along. I sat on the fence for a year and half before finding my e30 Not all have that sort of time I guess.

I didn't say faster, I said 'quicker'. As in when one turns the steering wheel. Way less running gear in the eS, and no drivetrain going through the front, or the necessary suspension geometry associated with it.
