George Graves and his volt meters

I have ordered both the light dimmer and the custom volt meter and both were shipped very fast and as anyone can tell you it was top notch quality. It was in fact so good that I decided to order the oil voltmeter knowing that this will be a rare and sought after item that you wont be able to just buy in the future. I think it goes a long way that he is selling one off items to the community and before this mis-hap has shipped everything in a timely manner.
With that being said, like a couple posters stated before me is that all anyone wanted were some updates. I knew you weren't going to disappear from the times before dealing with you but to some people I am sure they feel like they have been grifted. I hate confrontation as much as the next guy and I'm sure posting here would open a can of worms followed by emails and PMs but sometimes the truth goes a long way. I am sure just by that post you made along with weekly realistic updates will go a long way and you will have 90% of us feeling fine knowing that you haven't disappeared.
Just keep us updated and hopefully we all get these soon.

You have their money, you need to find a way to start offering refunds to those who want, and ship products to those who have paid, not in a couple of weeks, but now.
There's no question that George has been a great asset to the community but there's a point where your good history will only help so much. I'd really hate to see it coming to GG being permanently banned from R3V but as said, others have been banned for less.

You need to start selling your belongings on Ebay or CL or whatever, take out a Credit Card advance, sell plasma or sperm or whatever it takes to come up with the $$ to pay these people back.
Otherwise you're just another deadbeat.
I really wasn't going to reply or participate in this thread, however coming from a consumers point of view, SPECIALTY ITEM OR NOT...the lack of ownership, participation/compasion/lack of care (see 1 worded replies) speak volumes about your (GG's) character in the end.
Part of my job (my career) is to assure customer satisfaction, and to asses opportunites in product advancement for a multi-billion dollar company, that's goverened by the feds...
I see this happen, and I can't help but become uncomfortable for not only you, but the individuals who put forth the effort of entrusting you with THEIR hard earned money, only to receive NO replies, and minimal attention for almost a rolling year.
this is not the 1st thread about a non-delivered product...most of these threads fizzle out and die, after a consortium of heavy hitter OG's offer up their "word" that GG is a stand up guy...that's not good enough.
my join date is 2011, but i've been around as a non-member since 2005...I know the GG name as well as the next OG...word to mods aswell(constructive criticism) not cool on whoever changed title on the George Graves feedback thread, to the MachShnell feedback thread...making light of the situation.
A reputation on a automotive forum will only take you so far, this is beyond unnacceptable.
I've dealt with PLENTY of individuals on R3V that have encouraged open communication, and transparency throughout all transaction...
you've collected over $1500 from members here alone, and can't offer a refund...is it safe to assume you've spent these individuals $ prior to delivering them their product?
shame on you.

If anyone wants my spot in line for a volt meter can paypal me $100.
PM me for details
And just to clarify, I'm not trying to pile on GG here or anything. Simply put, its been a year, Ive since bought a volt meter from another forum member, so no need to have my c note just out there. I've sent a pm to GG basically stating the same but never heard back. Its possible that in the future when he gets these things rolling again I might want one, but till then I need to recoup my money.Last edited by aaron325ix; 03-27-2013, 10:51 AM.sigpic

Disclaimer, I am not currently waiting for an unshipped item, however I have purchased multiple items from GG in the past so feel that my voice is at least as warranted as those piling on GG when they haven't even purchased anything.
Let this be a lesson to everyone about Commerce. GG does not represent a large company that can absorb the ebb and flow of business and an employee's personal problems. GG is a loan wolf, and selling products that are not built yet. The dude could up and die and you basically have no recourse. So know that going into the purchase. If you want customer service and predictability go buy off Amazon. If you want a hand crafted one off device with quality you won't find anywhere else, then take the risk. If you "buy" a product that hasn't been invented yet you are an investor, and like any investment you run the risk of losing your investment. In this case it looks like GG has run into unforeseen problems. A large company could plan for such events, do so reasonably, and it would be reasonable to expect that. A one man operation holds no such implied promise.
The outcome I'd like to see for the benefit of GG and the community is for updates: when things eventually ship, and to know how many people end up getting refunds when possible. In the mean time, perhaps GG could pen down his sales/work process and the risks involved for those that are a little green at being a consumer.
I honestly believe that GG is trying to do right by us. It's not as "right" as we'd like, but it's what he's able to do. He's going to learn from them, and so are we. What I'd hate to see happen is that we take this shitty experience for GG, and imply to him that his years of service in this community are all wiped away. I don't want that to happen to him, and I don't want the next amateur business hobbiest that decides to benefit this community to be too scared to try.
I think it is a testament to how much GG means to this community that when he has a personal problem THIS MANY PEOPLE are effected. When great men fall, people notice and it effects many. Ban those with intent to cheat our community, but forgive those that fail us while meaning well.
Now I'm going to peace out.Last edited by Earendil; 03-27-2013, 01:54 PM.-------------------------------------------------

Well, I, for one, would like it changed back to something relating to GEORGE GRAVES, and not me.
Thanks.

We're talking about THIS thread, which was named after me by George after I starting pestering him for updates, months ago:
EDIT: Looks like someone re-named it, again.

"When great men fall"...?? WTF are you smoking?
This is bullshit. The dude has been blatantly ignoring his customers, and now says he can't even afford to refund them... while at the same time saying that the current product is not good enough in his opinion, so he may have to START FROM SCRATCH. How's he going to start from scratch without any money to buy the materials?!?
Ridiculous.
How come he hasn't been banned yet?
