        There's no way 38mpg can be had from a m42 with a stock 4.10 running at 80mph on the freeway.

          I use to make a 500 mile trip once a week in one go with mine @ 85-90 the whole way. Besides hearing the engine rev for that long it was fine. Road noise in a 318 with get to you though.

          I averaged 26.4 mpg over a the trip doing 85-90. Calculated from my odometer. ;)
