Meh, just spend the money and do it over a weekend. My $600 e30 quickly escalated to $3000 in parts in 5 months. I replaced every single suspension piece, but man it sure drove nice.

    this is just the beginning

I was planning to do most the work myself but unfortunately the maintenance is needed RIGHT now and my work schedule and 3 year old wont let me turn wrenches on it yet so... "cringe" I dropped it off at a shop to do the driveshaft which is the most important issue at the moment.

Then i'll be taking it to an exhaust shop to have them y pipe the exhaust into a single 2' cat and y piped back into the dual cat back system, so 2-1-2 shouldn't cause any performance decrease and as far as i'm concerned, any type of properly functioning exhaust will be a performance increase from what the car has now lol. Once i pick the car up from the exhaust shop its off to a 3rd shop, Place is called "something" i forget motorwerks, apparently there's a guy there who's been working on classic bmws for 40 years and says hes done hundreds of timing belts on them, He gave me an absolutely phenomenal price on the timing belt, cooling system over haul and valve adjustment... I mean compared to what i've been quoted average 500-600 and thats with me buying the parts.. This guy quoted me 350 which includes all shop supplies like coolant etc. so i said screw it for the time savings and convenience i'll eat the labor.

The car still needs tires and the exterior lighting worked out to be inspectable.. but its a start.. 450 bucks i got quoted to fix all the rust and get it color matched and blended with the OEM diamond schwartz paint.. i think im gonna do it..

also planning to replace all side markers with smoked lenses and replace both shift/ebrake boots with blue houndstooth boots.

.....oh the joys of owning an e30....
Working...
