if you're going to swap it what difference does the stock transmission make??

b/c i dont feel like converting it to a manual.

I'm not sure I understand. you can't use the standard transmission with a V8 - none of the wiring is really different (the auto start wiring unplugs). Everything else bolts up and you're going to be swapping it all anyway?

I think there is a misunderstanding here. lol I wasn't interested that other car b/c it had an automatic transmission in it. I dont feel like dealing with the headache of fitting a clutch pedal (requires cutting of firewall i believe) and install of master and slave clutch cylinder.

When/If i do the V8 swap i fully plan to use what ever manual trans fits the new engine.

there is no cutting.. it bolts up.

E30s were all built to be 5-speeds. Some were tortured and forced into being built as automatics. But they always want to be changed back. :p
