they are two very different cars i think I've never been a convertible guy but after riding in one with the top down i totally get it, it even more so because in California you can have the top down 300 days a year

You can leave the top down all year anywhere.

zinno vert with tan top here. I have driven a regular coupe before and it was nice. But cruising with the top down on a mild day, hearing the engine/song, just completely immerses you in the experience sometimes. Then it rains and it may or may not drip on you haha!

My friend HATED covertables. Until he bought an E30 Vert. Said he would never own an e30 Hardtop. Idk what it is, I'm not a vert fan. Some people just love them .

            I'm partial.
I HATE road noise but tollerate it in my vert. This is why I'm going to pick up a hartop for it. Plus me has v8 and I'm sure it'll help with the chassis flexing.

The first night I drove it with the top down in 75 degree weather.... I fell in love. It's amazing. It feels like you're a part of the world while driving. Like lifes taking you somewhere vs, a coupe feeling like you're getting in a shuttle and wont know how anything feels until you step out your shuttle.

Hmmm, I'll put it like this. We've all had sekks right? that feeling you get when the condom breaks or falls off is what it feels like to be in a convertible. "Oh shi.... oh wow... mmmmm yeaaah!"

.. Except when it's hot as hell and the sun is beaming down on you. That feels like pitty sekks. You'll still do it but it's not a fun.

I have had both, and for me in some ways it is the closest to driving a motor cycle you can get. I have had 2drs, 4drs, and 2 verts. A stock vert, top down, the eperience is just in a place all its own. When I ride a bike, it to is in a class all its own. I could not daily my vert right now for a slew of reasons, but I bought it because it was a 5spd, and with that top down, the cars lines are perfect.

I didn't look for or want a vert. It found me and It just happened... then fell in love, now that its swapped with a five speed i love it even more.. The top needs mechanical work. (Rebuilt) but its nice to drive with the top down.

I bought my now sold AWII Cabrio when my 318i got t-boned then found the barn find. For all the fine cars of owned this is the first Cabrio and I love those days when I can put the top down

They can bury me in it

                              I second this.

To me I value a vert because of its body lines. Its form when the top is up or down looks better than a coupe in my opinion. When I first became a member on this forum, I thought the hardtop roofline sit so high and made the car look funny, but a vert's roof line is lower and suits it much better IMO. Today ive learned to like hardtops more, but I still have a strong attraction for verts.

I also really dig the whole top down thing. Its actually quite refreshing. Plus chicks dig it.

Only downside I find is if the top isnt good, it will leak. and also there a quite a bit more noise when driving with the top up, but im willing to sacrifice for the awesome summer days with the top down.

If you drive with the top up more than the top down, you're doing it wrong.
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.
