DUDE! He is carrying McDonalds on the roof with out a roof rack. :nice:

Seriously though, If I needed a roof rack I'd get one, not for the bimmer though, probably for the daily mazda 3 wagon. There is a Schwartz E30 at an auto shop in my neighborhood, it always has the rack on it, but never anything on it.

They're fine if you use them for their intended purpose. But most who have them are sorry ass hipsters

I had roof racks on my car for a year and only used them once, to carry an e30 hard top. I haven't found much that I can't jam into the hatch of my car.

Whatchu mean? Hipsters put all kinds of stuff on their roofracks. Carefully selected "random" stuff.

Ive seen Thule and Yakima Racks mounted up top a vert hard-top

They were the later model "screw in" mount types, like the e46 Roof Racks. normal e30 racks wont fit

I guess all of you know that you can buy a fold up utility trailor for less than $250.00 these days and haul it behind your e30 and easily pull a lot. In addition, as long as it's less than 2,000 lbs GVW your car insurance policy provides liability insurance free of charge whereas if you own a pick up truck, you have to buy specific insurance on the truck.

                                Just an observation.
