      I currently have a 2001 Audi B5 A4 and VW Passat wagon(my first wagon).

Yeah I love 'em both! Both are 1.8T engines. It has some quirks here and there, but if you keep up the maintenance they are nice cars for DD and hauling and such.

Pretty peppy too and that AWD is pretty good on the Audi. Parts are fairly inexpensive(CL) like maintaining a Honda Civic.

My GF's family is HARDCORE Audi/VW/porsche. They have a 2001 A4 1.8t, 96 carrera (tracked at VIR every year), a 2008 A3 2.0t and an 98 A4 2.8 with almost 300,000 miles on it. The thing WILL NOT die. All of the cars are MT
We do have a little bit of a rivalry going on between families.

My dad did have a 70's VW bus with the porsche engine but later swapped it over to the bug motor.

I like volkswagens and if i was ever getting a kid carrying car for my "future wife" it would be a jetta TDI wagon. ALTHOUGH BMW is bringing the 328d wagon to the US in the near future.

04' R32. Greatest car i've ever driven, let alone owned. I cry to this day reminiscing about her. Now for daily duty (college shit) I have a Jetta TDI wagon. It's fairly reliable, put 15k on it in roughly 9 months. Had a starter go out and the battery, and it likes to consume oil. But besides that, 45 mpg mixed. I can't complain.

EDIT: Also had an A6 avant (wagon) that had 200k with the original transmission. WORST FUCKING THING EVER. I loathed that piece of garbage. Non stop lights off the dash going on, and smoking out of the valve cover, and exhaust falling off. 2.8 tiptronic. All the problems of an audi and without any of the speed.

In a addition to my E30, I drive a '13 VW Golf R and I love it! It is my second VW and my first VW was an '11 VW GTI. I have heard many horror stories regarding VW/Audi, but they are usually about 90's model year cars.

But hey, I went to hell and back with the 2 MINI Coopers I owned over an 8 year spance with numerous issues, so I'm thinking VW can't be much worse. For the record though, my GTI and Golf R have given me no problems.

Posted this in the other thread, but I really, really want one of these. I've always wanted a 20v 5 with Quattro, and I feel like this would be the best sleeper platform.

Sometimes, without even knowing it, there are interesting little links between cars and their owners. Take this 1984 Audi 80 Quattro we came across at Gatebil last month for example. Known as the ‘Silver Arrow’, it’s something of a legend in the Norwegian Audi community. One of the very first Ur Quattro sedans, it was originally …

Yes! Currently drive a MKV GTI, but will hopefully be selling it soonish to pick up an e30. Also really into aircooled VWs. If I had the money and time I would have another Type 1 right now.

                Here is my current car:

Also I know there are a handful of guys from golfmkv.com from here.

I should have held out for the GTD. That is supposed to be here next fall.

I'd take another B5 as a daily. I'd want the 2.8 though, for DD status. Santorin Blue is the best! Grey interior?

I was a VW guy before I tried out Nissan S-chassis cars, then went to e30s.

                          Had (in order):
                          Mk2 Jetta 1.8-8v
                          2x Mk3 GTI-VR6
                          Mk3 Golf 2.0
                          Mk2 GTI 2.0-16v (swapped, originally a 1.8-8v car)

Loved the last one the most. Light as hell and kept the original close-ratio 8v tranny so it topped out @ 110 but got there in a hurry.

                          Congrats on the jerb.

I think VWs were better built in the 80's, but I think that's true for most German makes. I have an '86 Jetta with 500k on it. It needs a little love, but it doesn't look like most cars from the northeast with that kind of mileage. My dad has a '92, but it's had more problems than mine, and it has half the miles. And my mom has an B5 A4, which is a big fucking piece of shit. I'm waiting/hoping for it to catch fire.

I wouldn't mind a GTI or Jetta from their current lineup though. I think they look fantastic. I'm not so sure about their reliability though.

I've got an '87 Audi 4kcsq with an MC1 swap.
She kind of gets with it.
But doesn't look anywhere as good as that 80 with the 20v.

Will never compare to my e30 though.
