^ NO Shit!!!! WTF is wrong with you people!!!!

My daughter is 14, and not dumb at all, but I am 100% sure she could NOT kick out a window in a car, and wouldn't think of it either.

yeah, I'm not even sure the doors being locked mattered. if she fell asleep and never woke up, she still would have died if they were unlocked.

kicking out the windows? I imagine this girl weighed something like 85lbs. yeah, not going to happen.

I tried to break up an old windshield once so I could trash it. Not nearly as easy as it sounds. I hit it with a sledge hammer (IIRC) and it bounced right off. I couldn't believe it. No way she's putting a hole on it with her foot.

I think there's something off about the situation though. I can't sleep if it's 75*, much less 130*. I don't believe that she was 'napping'. And I don't get why she was locked in the car to begin with. Why not just sit in the hallway or something until class started instead of a hot ass car? And if she's gonna stay in the car, why not crack a window, or leave her the keys so she can put on the AC? Something just doesn't add up here.

                  Very sad though.

                          I doubt it was 130* at 6:40am...

She likely dozed off while it was cool and either suffocated/passed out due to lack of oxygen or woke up and died of dehydration as the heat crept up.

Man that's really sad. Hope she died in her sleep and didn't feel any pain.

One more reason old cars > new. When all the modern (2010+) cars start getting old and experiencing problems in their "advanced" electronic systems I bet we will see much worse cases than being locked in a car...

^actually, about 2 years ago, BMW changed it back to where the car can be opened through the switch in the middle console even without the keys or pulling on the inner door handle twice.

IMO it is the kid that went to class that is at fault. I would never leave my Sister alone at that age in a locked car. Let alone with the windows up.

If I HAD to have her with me she would be in class with me. Place her somewhere in the class room, safe and in clear sight.

Not out to point fingers, but she was in his care. Leaving her in a car with the keys is not safe, leaving the windows down alone is also not safe(kidnapping etc). Safest place is in his sight and that would be with him. If a teacher had an issue with her sitting in they have an issue.
