the thing is, once you add in the costs of all the mods and extra repairs/headaches that come with having a highly modified car.. you could have just bought an M3 and then be done with it.

it's like, why buy all the parts you need to make your not-M3 "like" an M3, when you can just buy an M3?
Did I misread your post, it sounded like you were trying to call him out for calling his sport suspension "M suspension" all I did was let you know that lots of people were swapping the parts so it is the same as M3 suspension. Don't know how that turned into you telling me how swapping a bunch M of parts onto to a non M does not make it better then a M3 even if it is faster, I have said that on page 1. I would never buy a 335i or probably any E9x for all the different problems they have but the OP did only pay $23k for a car that is nearly just as fast as an M3, but you have probably seen E9x M3s for only a few Kay more.:)

Direct injector problems. HPFP recall/software issues. Carbon buildup due to direct injection (fuel doesn't clean off the intake valves), requiring the intake mani to be removed and the valves be walnut blasted, and IIRC, the engine needs to be removed to do this.

      Early 335s are garbage.

^dont forget the difference in the turbos.

Not that I have either but I've driven both

The only 335i I would like is a fully mtech'd out 6spd. Even they have their issues.

Compared to the m3, the m3 is a totally different beast. Bigger brakes, wider tires, and a totally different attitude. You can feel it come alive at 6,500rpm. A high revving NA V8 wins. Idgaf.

OP is slowly becoming a tool.

I'd mostly just say it plain, N54 sux, N55 is better.

A guy I work with bought an E46 M3 (vert) with 40K on it a couple years ago. If he hadn't purchased a warranty for it, he'd easily be out over five figures. Top alignment and lift motor issues, the S54 cylinder wall issue, etc. As it is, he only pays a $200 deductible and gets a loaner from the local high-line indy shop.

My point being the OP bought a warranty, as did my friend. With the well-known and documented issues with E9Xs (as well as my example above) they will most certainly pay for themselves and then some.

owning a e30 m3 I think i know what a good handling car is .i have sport interior nice bolsters on seats ,the steering wheel is small and paddle shifters much like m3.

resale value huh yes the e36 and e46 m3 resale is shittyttttttt!
                I can out run a m3 with $479.00 for a e92 m3 to beat a 335i it would need a 11k supercharger.
M3 isn't meant as a DD, go to an actual race track and you may see your turbo car overheat, cook its brakes, cook its tires trying to put power down with an open diff, and bounce around on "m suspension".. that is where your extra money is going for the M3, not in straight line speed

It's a BMW. It has A/C and a radio and sat nav. How is it not a daily driver?

When someone said "I'll let the next guy say it" on p.1, I thought someone was going to say "cool story bro". We could have left it at that.

Don't 335s also have HUGE fuel pump problems? Or was that a different late model 3series?

Friend of mine beat the hell out of his 08 acura TLS (i'm talking redlining regularly, hard shifting, but with 6MT) and sold it to get a 335 sedan. Loves that thing to death and beats on it too. Haven't asked about maintenance tho...

HPFP. It was recalled on the early 335s and some X5s. Along with it came a software upgrade/reflash.

I hear some are still having problems after the recall.

Yes, it is a full on recall. Safety problem. Cars were just cutting off in the middle of the highway.

Friend's ex had it done and there were still software issues persisting even after the recall. Many many trips to dealer = inconvenient.
