it's amazing to me that after 4 years of owning this car, I'm still learning things about it. I was poking around in the trunk of my '88 parts car (getting ready to move it today), and I noticed this huge thick slab all over the floor of my trunk. I guess I never realized what you guys meant by trunk tar, I just figured it was a layer under the paint. but holy shit, is that stuff thick!

so yeah, my car doesn't have any. never came with it from the factory (doesn't have that slab in the spare wheel well either). also, from the specs I've seen the later ix's weighed less than early ones. so much for early cars being so much better than new ones eh?

anyone else have a late E30 without trunk tar?

318is's did not come with it. My 318is [as it started life as an 88 325is] has it, nice balance.

No, he cut a check to my tutor to type it for me. My hands are to dellicate to touch a commoners keyboard. We're currently working on a telepathy machine so I no longer have to be assimilated with "commoner" items like a mouse and keyboard.

lol. it's more along the lines of me wondering if all 91's came without trunk tar, but whatever. did you know that a new rear driveshaft and steering rack for my car costs more than half the E30s here? ;)

My car never had trunk tar either. It did have a light layer of something that I thought was the trunk tar, but it was super light.
