        soooo.
Went to check it out, right off the bat it was a no go.
It had been resprayed and I'm particular about OG paint.
However, the owner was super laid back and knew I wasn't going to pursue it, but still let me joyride and get the feel for how an '02 should drive.
Visibility is absolutely insane, it's like a fishbowl in that thing.
Took it down some twisties and ran outta gas haha.
Drove the guy to a local shell in the e30, he was envious of the bucket.
The feeling was mutual for me as well.
        So we traded. ;)

        jk
here are some pics for those interested and I have the for sale ad handy if you wanna check it out.
        pm me

Yes they did. I've looked at a few of those recently for one of our drivers and honestly, I'd take a "regular" one over a touring anyday. Carbureted cars are simple to work on, relatively easy to find parts for, but not nearly as cheap as an E30. I had a late model (with the larger bumpers and taillights), and I know I'm in the minority but since I used the car as a daily, I preferred it that way. The M10 has plenty of pep for such a small car and there are a lot of things you can do to improve performance from bolt-on all the way up to increased displacement/improved internals. They never came with any rust protection so expect rust to be present. Rocker panels, front corners (near the turn signals), and shock mounts are the most likely areas. Trunk lids and spare tire wells are also fairly common, as well as floors if the car leaks.

I honestly can't believe you turned it down because the paint wasn't original.

Electrical issues, 75% of the gauges were non-op, no center console, cracked dash, super rough idle on start-up hesitation before water choke, smokes up if you give it too much throttle.

Just super small stuff, rust wasn't the deal breaker here.
I suppose I'm just spoiled by the abundance of minty e30's here in cali.

It's in San Ramon. Which is kinda close to Walnut Creek.
The guy's name was Craig. He bought it from his friend 4 years ago.
His friend had purchased it from a dude in SoCal IIRC

I didn't intend for that comment to insinuate any of that actually.
But the way white tends to keep it's sheen over the years, I had high hopes for this particular one to wear its factory paint.
