I have an 87 325i and my softop window just ripped open when i rolled my windows down. I really dont like the softop in the first place and ive seen hardtop conversions thrown around this and the other e30 forum. (Bimmerapp) ive seen they cost arou.d 1200, but is there amything i should know about them before i invest in one? Thanks guys

OP, replacing the shocks is a couple hour job, if you didn't "have time" for that, you're in a bad way.

srsly it takes 4 hours.

Had school and work. Summer means no school, and is when i can work on my car.

So you're saying that, at no point since you knew the work was needed, you have had 3-4 hours of free time...

Has it even been stated yet what engine you currently have?

But if 275hp is your goal then that is easily achievable on a M20, you can leave the internals stock, but get some ARP head studs and a thicker gasket to be safe so might aswell invest in that while you're at it..

Refurbished turbo from ebay, don't buy chinese knock-offs, altho' sometimes they work sometimes not. Ebay intercooler kit will do fine for you and ebay headers will likely do fine for you since I'm guessing you can't make your own?..

And now you're on your way, increase your budget to 2k and you will be able to buy some quality parts even..

You're also missing mounts, CAB's, rear bushings (trailing arm, subframe, and diff mount), tie rod ends, and sway bar bushings to have completely refreshed your suspension.

Please stop here and just work on refreshing the car.

If none of that is worn don't bother replacing it, ofcourse there's nothing wrong with it, but on a budget there's no need as we are not building a race car and with your modest numbers you'll hardly need a better diff mount for example.
