They are completely different ways of making power, there is no right or wrong, and you'll have to be the one who makes the decision. A 5.0 has tons of low end power, there's no waiting. As soon as you crack the throttle it's making gobs of power at any RPM. I know people talk about smaller turbo's not having lag, etc... but there is absolutely no comparison to the instantaneous power delivery at low RPM's of a large displacement engine. There's also no comparison to the feel and sound of a turbo spooling. So decide what you want.
I chose the m60. Lots of low end power, and keeps making power til 6500 RPM's. 260whp/wtrq. Will last 300k+ miles, is easy to work on, and is as reliable as a stock m20. If I do break it, I can find one in a junkyard for $150 all day. Once the initial work for the swap was done, it now takes me about 2 hours to remove the engine with the removable core support, from pulling the car in the garage to laying the engine on the pallet. And a 5.0 is MUCH smaller then an m60, so there is plenty of room, don't let that concern you.

I want to do a LSx swap so bad, but the cost is way up there. From what I've seen and research, the LSx swap will be about double to the turbo setup.
Turbo ~$3500-$4k
LSx swap $9k-$14k+(depending on what you do during the swap, motor upgrades,...etc)1990 325is
m52b28
3.73lsd
g260 (1987 325is 5spd tranny)
