The Eclipse: a car designed by a woman, for a woman, brought to you by a company that makes televisions.

        Mitsubishi Eclipses?

Comes to e30 forum to find support for selling e30 and buying DSM...

I've owned 2 Gen IIs and a Gen III; both gens I owned were buckets and had problems I needed to drop bank to fix and never really fixed anything. Destroyed tranny synchros, endless cooling system problems, pointlessly heavy, random electrical problems, crappy plastic dashboards that broke if you even LOOKED at them, heater stuck on. I've got a list

I moved from that platform onto the e30 platform and have not looked back

No hate; I've always loved the Turbo GSX for F&F Nostalgia reasons, but the DSM platform was never good to begin with and went downhill after Gen II. The ONLY thing good about the DSM was AWD and Turbo; once they got rid of that in Gen III...

Never liked Evos until X, so I agree they looked way better

Maybe you missed my sarcasm of my last post? I definitely wasn't looking for support to get an Eclipse. I was just asking a question about whether or not they were a reliable, worthwhile car in comparison to something from Honda or Toyota. When you've got three e30s that all need fairly large amounts of work, sometimes you start wanting to replace the one you have to drive everyday with something else less troublesome, yet maybe more interesting than a Camry. I learned that an Eclipse is not one of those things. But thanks for giving me shit. It's motivated me to start getting off my ass.

I would lean toward just getting a civic or accord. The 90s were the golden years for Honda. Simple engines with decent economy, better looking/feeling than a corolla or camry, and, as long as you don't live in a crappy area, cheap enough to insure. Or what about a 200sx? Again, very economical and some versions (SE-R) came with the SR20DE, which wasn't a half-bad engine.

I think even Saabs trump reliability of Mitsubishis.

The problem is that so many of them are neglected or rusted. An Infiniti G20 is on my radar, though. There's lots of Accords around but I always like trying find something more unique if I can.

edit: ^ My older brother drove an L200 Saturn for forever, put like 200,000 miles on it with no issues. But it's still a Saturn, lol.

Ah yeah actually I've known a few people with Saturn L series that were pretty solid mechanically even with a couple hundred thousand miles. Cosmetically they were garbage though haha. Horribly ugly and bumpers fell apart as if they were made from cardboard.

Forgive me. Most times I post without proofreading and come off as a huge douche without considering the whole discussion.

In my experience, fixing the car you have is ALWAYS cheaper than spreading yourself too thin an buying another car. This was the point I was getting at; most of the stuff you posted is not major work, and can be done in one day in a warmish garage in about 5 hours MAX which is why I was getting annoyed: if you mention something like needing extensive head work or electrical system overhaul, then I could totally see what you're getting at.

This guy said it perfectly, much granted in a less blasting way:
