Seriously, whats up with my 325?

Is my super eta weird or what? i have an 88 super eta which i thought was stock besides for the air filter. i pull the glove box liner to find out that i have a 525 ecu. also there is no rev limiter at 5500 rpm's. it just keeps pulling. im scared to go past 6k because i dont want to float the valves into pistons. heres a few pics of the engine, notice there is no 2.5 or 2.7 designation in between the 1st and 2nd spark plugs. there isnt even a raised area. the video is of wot in 1st and then wot in 2nd. help me out here.

video of 1st and 2nd wot runs.

heres a slightly larger version if you cant see anything

      1. it pulls like mad to 6k, feels like there is more even past 6k.
      2. at like 3-4k there is this mad power increase, and the intake and exhaust noise changes alot.
      3. there is no rev limit at 5500
i really want to know whats up with it? like anything different from a stock seta?

Have you had the valve cover off? Maybe it has an "i" cam. Does it have a chip?

Its very easy for someone to just swap an i ecu into your car because it is plug and play. You need to be careful however because the valvetrain is only good til around 5500 or so. Take the valve cover off and check to see if you have single or dual valve springs. My guess is someone put the i computer in and didnt change anything else because you have a super eta intake manifold. You can check the head by looking for the casting number xxxx885 but it is somewhere on the intake side and probably difficult to see. There is also a lot of rust on your block.

ok so keep it under 5500 until i find out if it has dual valve springs. because it pulls beyond 6k and has more. ill pull the valve cover asap, i need to do a lash adjustment anyways.

You would have to measure the duration, or find the part number on it.

Its very simple to check for valve springs. Eta's and super etas only have the large outside spring. i cars have a second spring inside the larger outer one as well.

Not sure how indicative this is of anything, but that's an "i" valve cover, though I suppose one could put an "i" cover on an eta engine?

the seta got the "i" head with single valve springs and the eta cam.

Even if your car were a 325i it would fall off at 6k, and it falls off hard. It still makes a lot of noise though, which makes it seem like its making power.

That car has a eta intake manifold which leads me to believe it is just a super eta.
