I don't think that you are really "opening up" the engine to change the timing belt. There is one cover and a couple hoses that need to be removed to get to it. Its not like its inside the block or something.

They refer to them as an "Eight-six", or Hachi Roku (eight-six, geddit?).Originally posted by SpecM-"eighty-six", as in Ae86, is "hatchi-roko" (sp?) in Japanese
To me, flat-black belongs on TA22 Celicas (early 70s ones), kustoms, trad rods, bad-ass muscle cars and anything more aggressive than an E30. The DirtE30 just does not have the hardcore bodylines to pull off such a hardcore hue.
A non-USD E21 323i, dumped on its arse, fitted with fat 16s and a V8 or triple-carburettor-fed M30 with a 304-deg cam would be perfect for a flat blackin' ;)Pork Hunt Motorsport

You can only push off flat black if you've got some SERIOUS muscle under the hood. I wouldn't try it unless my paintjob was completely screwed and I was running 300+hp.

it looks great on that car IMO. If your intercooler is that big, go for it.

With the right head work 190 is totally do-able. It wouldnt be very fun during rush hour though...Originally posted by terrybppI have heard using a S14 crank w/ a 2.0 m10 will get you around 190 hp N/A (absolutley quoting hear say). But as I have already done....just slap a turbo/ and MS and call it a day.

on topic, i actually do like flat black on E30s, not many other cars except for ratrods, the car has to be old school looking to pull it off (and have big pawr).90is, longtube headers/straight pipe/mark d 18# 93 0ctane chip/18# injectors/vogtland springs/bilst. sports

That's about what my Dad's old M10 in his 74 02 with a 330 degree cam, 11:1 compression & massive sidedraft webers put out. It also idled at about 2200 rpm.Originally posted by 2002maniacWith the right head work 190 is totally do-able. It wouldnt be very fun during rush hour though...
