It's kind of like putting on massive brakes with skinny ass stretched all seasons. Ain't gonna do ya no good if you can't make use of it.

    Oh he's mad as fuck.
So I guess all the turbo m20s, S54s, s14s, s38s all wasted their time cause high hp can't be used...lol...

    Oh my gawd, the insanity.

Regardless what OWNERS do to their vehicles M3s will always command a premium because supply <demand. If you want one go work hard and buy one. It's really not t hat complicated.

Rturbo 930. Since you like porsches...Have you ever heard of the porsche yellowbird? In 87' it was 470hp in one of the most unforgiving chassis ever. It was one of the hardest vehicles to drive. Good thing those guys didn't have your mindset. It would of never been made...too much HP....can't be used.

When people ask why I did a swap I tell them cause its my f*****g car and it's America thats why. Dont like it? Go spend your hard earned money, buy an M3 and keep it stock. Good for you. Those same people usually ask for a ride. Lol. I also have a 88' 325i and for the life of me I don't understand why anyone would modify a M20?? But I don't care cause it's their car and they can do whatever they want to it. Good for them. I'm only on this earth for a short time and I'm going to do what makes me happy and driving the only Turbo Charged LSX E30 M3 in the world that i built with my own two hands does that.... I guess I'm weird. I have had over 30 cars with a handful rarer than a E30 M3 so maybe that plays into it too.

The excuse being that the U20 is a rare and delicate motor. Delicate its not, the rods make a big block chevy look small (1100 grams each, and they are forged.) Yet, every year when I attend the annual Solvang Datsun Roadster show, fewer and fewer real cars show up and in their place are swapper cars that everyone fawns over. I seriously don't get it. If you feel you need a different motor than what the car came with, you bought the wrong car. It drives me absolutely crazy. I think for this year I'm not even going to bring my car down for it since its a serious PITA to do (needs 95+ octane so I have to buy leaded race gas and add it to 91. I can get down, but getting home is another story unless I fill the trunk with 10 gallons of 110 leaded so I can get home the tank is only 10 gal as well and it gets 20 mpg on the freeway if I'm lucky.) I might show up for an hour or so, but its not worth bringing the car down since few people appreciate it. Its also a vintage race car so it looks period correct, but is far from unmodified, so I end up lumped in with the swapper cars that aren't even real 1600s or 2000s anymore.

I'm all for modifying a car, but do it so any mods can be easily reversed. You might not reverse them, but the next guy after you might want the car as a stock car. Any parts I change I keep so that I can return the car back to stock if I should want to sell it.

I love taking the M3 to either an autoX or one of the autoX schools I help run. It always grabs everyone's attention and is often the only E30 M3 there for either the autoX or a full track day (the schools run in conjunction with regular track days) I always have people asking if they can get a ride along and I usually say "get in".

Same thing with the Z cars. Lots of people buying them, and swapping in an RB or LSx, never having driven the car. It's disappointing since the L series is such a great motor, and anything over ~300hp is almost too much for such a light car anyway.

This is getting beat to death but the car hobby is supposed to be fun. Fun means different things to different people. I respect the guy who wants a bone stock garage queen just as much as the guy who wants an LSX powered e30m3. We all love cars. As long as Im not molesting your car it should not matter to anyone what anyone does. Just share the love of cars and sit back and watch yours appreciate in value because of what im doing to mine

Over half the m3's for sale now are swapped with different engines.

I have this argument all the time with various people. I enjoy all aspects of the car scene and I would have no problem gutting an e3o m3 to make it what I want. I think too many people get caught up in the "collector car" mentality. I would rather see someone gut one and use it for what it was made for then see it sitting in a collection gathering dust.
