    you can call AAA and get rv membership that gives you 300 or 400 miles of towing included from the side of the road im not to sure how far you actually are from home but thats what i did when i was stranded. they include few hundred mile tows so you could get it towed 300miles to motel, then call aaa up the next day and use another 300 mile tow and so forth until your home

        He's 250 miles from home. I live in same town and googled it and it would take me 3.5 hours...at speed limit to get to him.

          it looks like its around 150 for the rv policy and you get 1 200 mile tow and 4 100 mile tows

            Guys you're all awesome... Insurance only covers 25 mikes then i pay the tow company directly, that would be about 500-1000. USAA, i tried membership, towing doesn't start for 72hrs after signup. They charge extra for same day service and will only tow 5 miles, after that its $5 a mile (ridiculous). The best solution i have now is my father in law to rent a 2 wheel car hauler and come get me in his Silverado. Thats the best i got so far

                Going to tow by rear wheels? I wouldn't suggest towing more than 50 miles with rear on the ground. Since car would have to be in neutral it means gears wouldn't be locked into the output shaft and so fluid would be sitting at bottom of trans.

                  I towed my 320i 500+ miles on a tow dolly. Front wheels on the dolly rears on the road and the car in neutral. Cruising at 75mph all the way home.

                    Because I towed my E30 from New Orleans to Houston (~350 miles) with a two wheel dolly rented from Uhaul with the rear wheels on the ground..

                      remember to tow the car with the rear wheels on the trailer. otherwise you will kill the diff and trans.

                        More heat to internal transmission parts since the trans fluid not being splashed around by gears.

                        Ive never had a problem either...but I've never towed more than 50 miles without removing driveshaft.

                              in all seriousness, what could have caused a failure so early? My guess is bad seals at the front of the engine??

                                seized tensioner or incorrect tension on the belt
