Stranded!

Everything is almost put back together but the breather hose coming from the valve cover broke. It plugs into the intake can I run it with this off or does it need to be replaced before I can try to start it?

It would be a huge vacuum leak. I guess you could temporarily plug the intake side just to start/test out your work.
