Shit, I just got my taxes back and it's a little over 3k. I am not listening to myself, and instead am going to Cancun, diving.

Its not that I dont disagree you have to spend some money on shit you like once in a while to keep your self sane. Yeah I know put over 6500 into a car that I wish I still had, but life came up and I had to sell it off for less than half that amount to reallocate the funds to something else. Had I been smarter and saved more of that money I would not have had to sell it, and at this stage I would have had it done up and completed to where I wanted it, now that I am solvent enough to be able to dump multiple 1000's on extras and toys from time to time, I am to that point that if I want a toy I pull out my check book and go from there, not call the bank and see if they will loan money to buy it. It took lots of hard work, dedication and self restraint to get here, but once you are there life is much less stressful.

Your right it should be, BUT in the lions share of the population (especially the young) this is not the case. Hence the term we use around here "broke baggy pants" . When your younger and starting out or are still in school, its hard to try and keep a savings and buy every thing on credit from education to top ramen for dinner this is why when get a little ahead you might want to try and stay there. When you get your tax overpayment refund back most people look at it as a free money windfall, as you know its not, yet most go out and blow it as if it were.

I have learned these great lessons by fucking up, and its not from a lack of prior education, my family beat all this into me ever since I started working around the house for an Allowance, I am thankful I have 1/2 of all the money I earned before I turned 21 saved away and my gma would not let me touch it when I was learning important things the hard way. I am just trying to pass on some hard learned lessons, so that others might not have to learn them quite as hard as I had too.

All that said OP. Its your money you spend it how ever you want to and do what you wish with it. If you must blow it all on the ride. Maintenance issues 1st, (if it doubles as an upgrade so be it) Suspension/brakes/rubber/power upgrades in that order Appearance shit if you have anything left, its zinno. its single stage it will polish up very nicely....

Go to Thailand or Bali or the Philippines for a month.

Seriously. I spent 4k in 2 months in the Philippines and had a ridiculously amazing time.

Go travel. The pictures and memories will outlive your E30.

actually, I think there has been a huge misunderstanding. I saved up this money from work. I put 20% of my paycheck in savings and pay into my company's 401k option. I'm fortunate enough to be the senior supervisor at my FedEx ground shipping warehouse and I have plenty of money to spend on this car. I'm just looking where to start! haha

I might be in over my head with this build. it's my first car I've bought, but I had to get it when I saw it on the lot. I should probably have introduced myself on this board before I posted something like this. let's just call this that.

lol well then your all set on that end, you can ignore my old man plan for the unexpected rantings and ravings.... Just lots of the new guys around are young broke school kids asking what they should do to their cars ...... Max out that 401k annually if at all possible ;)
