Couldn't have said it better. I would say I was sorry for him but...

Would you feel sorry if a high-end actor or famous person died from an OD? No; I didn't think so

It was their choice; they got what was coming to them

True i agree, he was doing some dumb stuff. all im saying is he had more skills than 90% of the people out there. that at least deserves some credit. He is in an odd spot in between complete moron, and complete legend.

No question he was a skilled driver, and it's sad he died while someone else was driving his car. But that kind of shit belongs on a skidpad or track. The roads are already clogged with bad/inattentive drivers, no need to add to that mix.

Below is not directly related, but a reminder of what can happen on the roads...

Yesterday there was a double fatality in my city due to 2 teenage brothers trying to outrun the cops in a stolen F-150. They t-boned a car in the process killing a father and daughter. Thankfully both guys were caught (uninjured) and are now facing a laundry list of charges including homicide.

Even professional race car drivers crash some of the time. Doesn't matter how skilled the guy was, he was going to crash at some point. The difference is he might have killed an innocent person on the street instead of just hitting a track wall.

I was LITERALLY there when this happened

As an EMT, I parked and jumped out of my car. Both idiots were out cold in the truck; the couple in the smaller car were not so fortunate. The car was so smashed I could hardly even recall the make/model. There was nothing I could do; plus I was off-duty so I was limited in my assistance. The f150 looked like it sustained an immense amount of damage: at least traveling 80+mph

Fire Dep. Showed up and cut the couple out with the Jaws. Unfortunately, the couple didn't make it.

I was on my way to school that day; on my way home (~11PM) I saw the family outside lighting candles

Intersection near Don Julio; off of Antelope; right above the railroad tracks

                  My heart sank...

That's so sad. These people want nothing to do with other's hooliganism (hooniganism?) yet innocent lives are lost because of selfish jerkasses.

After seeing what happened, I've officially put up my gloves for drifting on public roads; even if it was just during late hours with no one around

It is just not worth it if and when something goes wrong..

Be a hoonigan on the track not the streets. That's the lesson to be learned.

You have to be blind to not understand the amount of people who think this man is "bad ass"

Not saying thats me, but he obviously had and still has a following.

would be interesting to have seen him tandem at the track though
