The logical thing to do is call the DMV and see what is going to be necessary to get a title.

I'd give you 250 for the trans. Let me know if you want to sell it.

I wouldn't imagine you need a title for a track car. So if you can't get the title I'd take it for 250 and make it a track car. I mean yea it's not restoration but then you can say you saved a car from a crusher.

That is a VERY ambitious build. Not saying that you couldn't or shouldn't but it's almost on the verge on being to far gone. Now you could get that $250 back in scrap metal.

Forgot to call DMV today. I'll give them a call tomorrow and then I'll know if this thing can be titled or not. After that I'll give it some more thought and decide whether or not to save this old girl

Remember that you cannot scrap a car in WA without clear title...and believe me, they check carefully.

All these guys saying "its worth that in scrap" have clearly never tried to take a car to the recyclers without a title here. Even something as big as a core support they require a clear title in your name or a release of interest form. The state of WA is vicious, they will shut down a yard permanently after three infractions.

There is a workaround that will work, but it's really sketch. The PO can take it back anytime for the next three years after you get it "roadworthy" and inspected by WSP.

So that means get it home, fix it all up, get it to Vancouver, get inspection done ($80? or so) get a registration so you can drive it and after 3 years it's yours, you get a title then.

Like I said, sketch as fuck, but possible.

                      Best of luck!

I tried to buy that car last week. The seller said he would only sell it with his non running POS 318i parts car. That, along with the no title thing, I said fuck it.

As far as the car as a whole, buy it and part it. it looks pretty far gone. I have a '83 323i as well, but in way better condition. just needs an engine rebuild.

Not always. Most came with an overdrive trans.
