    New 1991 318i NEED SUGGESTIONS!

    So here's the deal guys. I just bought this car and it's my #2 buy in the Bmw world. Im creating a shell because the guy who owned it before me treated this e30 like trash! so I'm looking for suggestions on a motor to put into this beast. I wanted to go s50, but I also want to go turbo. So being a newbie on anything not N/A what are your thoughts on a turbo BMW, down to suspension and up. Just looking for 6-10 psi out of the block. Not making this into super car. Just like enough get up and go to show these "Honda Heads" in my town what a real car looks like. :hitler:

    turbo the m42! And once you blow it up take what you learned and then build a proper motor. And give me you all the shitty ass parts you dont want for free. please...

      Well I also was told the m20 is a bad one to turbo either.

        Well, since everyone loves a turbo you should do an M30! Not only do you get over 200hp out of the box, but it makes bonkers power when you add a turbo and associated mods. It also fits the character of the E30 chassis more than an M/S5x IMHO.

        It will also put most Hondas to shame with its epic fuel consumption!

          318i=M10, 318is=M42. If you're going to turbo anything, just do it to the M10. It's an M30 with two cylinders sawed off, great reliability, super easy to work on.

          Oops, didn't see the "1991" part in OP's title...

              Does that motor have OBD2 or 1?

                318i = m42 318is = m42...m10 was 84-87? 318. None of the e30 motors have obd1 or 2

                *edit look up danny's budget m42 turbo build.

                      True! But it will also scare the Hondas away with the epic sound it makes as it heads towards redline :)

                        If you have some deep pockets, here are some options

                        First thing, if your car is stock, toss your sealed beam headlights in the trash and go with some Hella H1/H4 lights. Upgrade your suspension, i.e., Bilstein, Eibach, H&R, IE swaybars before you put money into the motor.
