more **** breaking after 5spd swap?

For anyone that did this conversion do ya'll think its mainly b/c you did a sloppy job with the install or is it b/c you drove the car harder after the swap?

Or is your e30 still pretty reliable?

I've broken many things on my E30 since the swap. It's mainly because I track a 20 year old car. Before I tracked it I had no significant reliability issues. You will drive your car harder though, that's a given :D

    Keep it slideways!!

My brake pads and rear tyres wore out faster after I did the swap.

        That's about it...

my car has been fine sense the 5spd swap...minus nearly blowing the motor 10K after it (tap tap tap tap tap tap tap when its running is bad right?)

runs great with the new motor :D

What type of probs are you experiencing? How long after the swap did these issues take place?

Shouldn't your brake pads last longer since you can downshift to slow down?

I've broken enough stuff with my auto that I'm not really worried about the 5 speed. :)

I'm just gearing up for a swap. Haven't done it yet. So far aside from my powertop not functioning everything works on my mtech.

Unless you are a really shitty mechanic I see no reason why the car would be less reliable. In fact, it should be more reliable because if you do the swap correctly you've virtually replaced every single part in the drive line.
