Ive made a few mcgiver presses with bottle jacks and some scrap steel. Very Possible to do if you have the stuff laying around. If not I recommend a really really big hammer, a friend who wont mind the possibility of breaking a finger or 2 and a lot of protein for the day. It is very possible to hammer the joints in and out yourself but YOU HAVE TO WANT IT!!! haha

HOWEVER, constant stress from bad roads with stiff suspension will create stress fractures. This could corrode over time to allow the control arm to actually fracture, but we're talking a VERY long time.

I'm just wondering how your control arms were bolted to the frame rail with AKG bushings while they were "bent over time", then you weren't able to bolt them back up again. Are you sure you didn't mess something up, like in an accident?
my friends car had worn out rubber bushings on it when we decided to go with akg poly instead. they wouldn't bolt back up on either side after we put the poly in the lolli lol.

I'm not trying to argue metallurgy with a bunch of guys from the internet, I was just giving some anecdotal evidence as to why it would be better to spend $180 on two new oem arms from pelican than to spend 30 dollars on outer ball joints and pay somebody 1.8 hours book time (alldata) to press them on and off and still have 20 year old control arms and inner ball joints.

The only cars control arms bend on are e30 tourings......Jerry....and that's to fit them between the taillights that are one piece.

OP pretty sure your just retarded, I just put AKG poly on my 220k mile control arms without a hitch..... I only ran them for a week until new lemforders came but still. You or your po hit a curb with both front wheels and bent them, deal with it.

aluminum ones can fatigue and steel can crack but that's after racing the fuck out of them, not driving on the freeway and around your house.

"Control arms also take abuse from impacts and handling forces. Aluminum control arms will generally bend and prevent an accurate alignment. Steel control arms will crack and fracture and require close inspection annually and replacement every 3-4 years."
I've had an E30 for more than a decade.. I've never seen or heard a steel control arm fail that hadn't hit something hard. The ball joints alone will last 80,000 miles easy. 3-4 years is salesman bullshit.
