    Ordering a NEW E30? An idea for the future!

    The title might confuse many, because it's not like you can call the factory in Germany and expect them to actually build you a custom E30. That's just not in their realm. However, while driving down the road with my girlfriend, we imagined ordering our own E30 like it was new from the factory; color, rims, upholstery and even model. After a lot of thinking, we came to an idea that might be the stupidest thing ever imagined, or the most original and interesting thing in the E30 community.

    What we are thinking, within a few years, is the idea that someone could literally order an E30 from our company (hasn't been made yet), using original BMW brochures from the 80's. We would buy a broken down E30 for a shell, then buying a good engine and rebuilding the ENTIRE thing. That way the engine would feel fresh out of factory. Then you could choose the paint, using original paint codes. The shell would have dents and every little scuff removed, and it would be sanded - aka everything would be new, even the primer. Then the interior could be chosen, and it could be plaid, houndstooth or leather - even M-Tech! Body kits could also be chosen based on the year chosen. Basically, the E30 would be brand new. I think it would be interesting to order my own, so I am trying to get opinion from real E30 enthusiasts! Let me know in the comments how you feel about the idea. This could be a real thing in the next few years.

          Figure out what it costs to completely restore an E30 to bone stock original, and then figure out what people are willing to pay for it.

          Dreams = crushed.

              Look at "Cabriolet" 's build. Basically he built a new E30, it cost him over 25K. For you to not be in the red you would have to charge 40K or more per car. No one is going to buy a non M E30 for 40K. Plus your interior options anthracite, hounds tooth, and Mtech. Where do you plan on getting this material? They are very rare and hard to come by. I don't think this is very realistic.

                  The problem is the demographic, people buy these car because they are relatively cheap. If you are talking about selling cars from a ground up restoration, you would have more money into the car than the car is worth. E30s M3 restored is something different but a non-e30. The money just isnt there.

                      Huh - I suppose thats all true. What if I made the idea strictly to M3's? That way the price could be higher..?

                        Singer does it with Porsches.......and IMO an E30 is really a more desirable car anyways.

                            Maybe Paris, or London. Washington DC isn't worth much now due to exchange rates. I hear Beijing is on the rise though.

                              The problem with Beijing is they are using that funny money that's obviously being manipulated. I'd say skip the Beijing and go straight for the Bern. It's always held it's value well.
