They do make quite a difference at highway speeds, especially 100+. With how low my car is today (lip around 3.5" off the ground) I scrape it like once a week. Could care less.

On a more serious note...how does there area on the lip where it clips on hold up? Mine was all chewed up when I got the car. The PO actually screwed it into the valence. I'm gonna replace it with a new one, but I was just curious.

Do they ever fly off while driving on the highway? If so, how do you retrieve them? Isn't that kind of a hazard to other drivers to have a pretty large peice of your car just sitting in the middle of the road? I have never had it happen, but it seems like it's not a good situation for anybody involved.

After running mine over multiple times, the area that clips on is no worse for wear.

Oops, #132 was my old number, I'm now #135.

Mine stays on even at 135mph, if it comes off, it is from hitting an orange cone or other debris that has been tossed onto the track.

To give it a little extra strength we use some racer tape to hold it better. The clips work pretty good, but are not permanent.

We do want it to give way if it does take a hit, so we don't screw it on. If we screwed it on, then if we inadvertantly hit something, the damage might be more severe and get into the lower metal valance which holds the ducting to the brakes etc. So we allow the lip spoiler to sacrifice itself somewhat.

Guys racing earlier E30s with the larger '87 style front air dam have this problem of the whole thing getting torn off, or torn off enough that they have to come into the pits during the race because the thing is dragging and they get black flagged. A major bummer. So some of them are converting their front ends to the 88 and up style.

These orange cones are are used for things like braking zone cones, or used for other markers on the track. Sometimes a car will go wide, hit a cone and knock it onto the racing line. Sometimes if you are right behind another car, you can't see the new obstacle until it is too late.

Here you can see if you look close that this Pro-3 car has used red racer tape to hold the is spoiler on. This was the Cascase 8-hour endurance race at Portland Int'l Raceway last October.

You racing boys love your Panasports. I like the color scheme of that car.

Two reasons so many Pro-3 cars have Panasports.

One, they are lightweight of course.

But more important, up until this year, all of the cars were required to run 14" wheels. And you know how many decent 14x7 wheels are out there to buy (very few). Panasport was about the only option.

Starting this year Pro-3 cars can run 15" wheels, partly so people have a few more choices in wheels when time to purchase. The Panasports are over $200 per wheel. When you look at buying 8 or 9 wheels to go racing, being able to buy something in the $140 range per wheels is a nice cost savings over the Panasports.

The Panasports do look good though.

My wife's was ripped off by some piece of shit last year.
I was thinking of riveting a new one on for her so the next jackass will make a bit more noise and I can come out and explain some things to him...

But I don't want her valence bending all up when she hits a curb or parking block ;) and that will eventually happen. why the doll pretty much ruined my cabbie's valence when she went past the parking block, wrapped the lip around the block, and tried to back up but ended up twisting the poor thing in a knot and tearing the sheet metal on one side! I had to drive around with one side almost dragging on the ground for a week before I said eff it and ripped the whole thing off (older, metal bumper style valence and trim).

Anyway, what do you guys suggest other than tossing it in the trunk at night and at the mall?
