Since I'm totally famouse with my broken 318is...
To be honest I haven't noticed it happening much. I don't know if that's because I mostly shit around on Australian forums and our culture is different, or if it's because I don't associate with that sort of scene.
There are the guys that say "I'm gonna do this because purists will b mad lol" and they're idiots, but most of the time they seem to be called out for being idiots.
Though I was linked to a post on Stanceworks where somebody was 100% serious when he posted that the OP should sell his car because it wasn't scraping, and get into the 4x4 scene. It wasn't sarcasm.

To all the internet famouse car guys
I'll probably be the first to say I fall into the category mentioned in the article; at least, when it comes to the online community
Not saying I'm proud of it. Most of the time I don't even realize I'm doing it.
Slowly realizing where I'm making mistakes and making attempts to fix it.
That being said, if I hung out with myself of 2 years ago, I'd probably punch myself in the throat. Good article though; humility check for all of us

I have a tough time with cars/owners in that I want to talk to them all. My close friends find themselves trapped at meets while I engage as many people as I can to see what they are like and what they have to say about their rides. From people who want to discuss how much cash they have invested to people like Clay working on his car with a myriad of people assisting the night before V@V 2013....
I am in love with all cars, and the writer brings up a good point about bagged cars done well, and regular cars that just look nice. It's tough since the car culture has taken on a different vibe on the net. The days of Jordan, Dado, Randy, TJ, Erik, Mariano, EGK, are long gone. Most people on r3v have no clue about any of those names, and the guard has definitely changed. It's nuts, most of the people I mentioned became well known for building e30's when there was little out there. Now it seams like deconstructing one of these cars gets you more respect from the web than actually building a nice example.
Again, I talk to everyone, I see beauty in all enthusiast cars, but sometimes some things can be hard to swallow. I hope the e30 scene can steer clear of what the modern VW scene has become in some cases.Yours truly,
Rich

I don't really talk about my car to people when they ask because I can spew out everything, but 80% of the stuff I say would mean nothing to them so I don't bother.
"it's got all the suspension upgraded and chipped" sums it up. If they mention a specific part for that year then I know, ok maybe elaborate."I wanna see da boat movie"
"I got a tree on my house"

Whenever I talk about my car to people, I get a bunch of blank stares unless they are car people/e30 guys

couldnt agree. I dont say a word about my car or the type of car I own unless asked. Most stanceworks fags know three parts coilovers/bags/wheels.

I think it's safe to say I'm not a part of the problem. Most people here probably couldn't even tell you the color of my e30.
