9 minute BTG times is quick, but not something to change your underwear over.

Where the driver passed the second porsche, is a part of the track called foxhole, it's steep downhill, then steep uphill. An in-experienced driver would lift going down because the road is bumpy and scary, but he stays flat, that is why he is able to pas the p-car so fast. My MINI clubman S on KWV1's and 195/50/15 ToyoR888's ran an 8:45ish GTG, and it's speedo indicated 140mph through this section...

The E30 driver keeps his corner speed up through the Adenau Forst section, tracking out on the line to the left of the M3. I didn't notice if the M3 had a bad line or moved right for the E30, but the E30 carried way more exit speed than the M3, that's why it doesn't seam like the M3 has the balls (we know it does) to pass the E30. The M3 gives up first and lets him buy, which is common in europe.

Still like this video, weight and balance are just as important as power

If you go into the pistonheads comments, there was apparently a 2007 article about a stripped 318is that could do 8:20 on stock power. I'm skeptical. Someone posted pictures of the article in the first comment, but they got taken down before I could read it.

That is the engine I would love to recreate.

My fastest recorded (iPhone timer) lap was btg 8:22 in my e30 with a stock m20 pulled from a junk yard.

John Johnson (red 2.7l m3, s14power guy) told me about a German old timer that could do sub 8 min laps btg in a m20 powered e30. This old timer claims that you only need to break times on the track!

The m42 is what 30hp down on the m20? I bet with less weight and a better driver than me, a 8:20 laps is definitely feasible.

How many times? I wonder how a standard 2.7i build would perform.
