Yeah I'm going back for the fronts tomorrow, the car is sideways on a hill though so I am going to have to get creative to drop them out. Will the hole strut assembly from a 90 fir an 87e? I have to drop it all, I may just take the strut assembly and the spindles.

if they are from the junk yard, how do you know they are only a year old?

i find billies in the jy here all the time. i have gotten to the point where sometimes i don't even bother harvesting them anymore. i think i have 3 or 4 sets in my storage.

...speaking of how does one take the front struts off, could someone link me somewhere good?

take the three nuts off the upper strut mount. take the nut off the bottom of the sway bar mount where it connects to the control arm. step on the control arm and pull the top of the strut/spring assembly so that you have the top part outside the fender. grab a pair of big ass channel locks (maybe 16"?) get the strut retaining nut loose(may not be easy.) you can reach inside the spring to get to the nut.

at this point you need to be really really careful. the spring is under a load on the strut. carefully unscrew the strut retaining nut and stay out of the way of the business end of the spring. when it unscrews, the spring and strut will go flying out of the housing. they don't go too far, but the tension is probably enough to break a finger/or perhaps a wrist if you are in the way.

if you have the right tools as mentioned above, you can get them out in about 10-15 min/side.

It's better if you have a spring compression tool.
