Sounds kinda like my story. Mine wasn't quite as nice as yours, but I almost lost it because I didn't act quick enough. You've got a killer example. Don't think twice and give them time to renege, go back there, show them cash or a cashier's check and get that thing!

I hope you get it, from the pictures it looks super clean and
Original. Looks like it has never seen a flake of snow. I change what I said earlier, anything under $40K and you've done well.
FYI 1990 and 1991 cars in the USA had an airbag wheel standard, it was optional on Canadian cars. My old car had the optional airbag wheel. Only Canadian cars that didn't come with the optional airbag wheel got an Mtech 2 wheel from the factory. All other North American E30 M3s had an Mtech 1 wheel or an airbag wheel.
Just thought that was pretty cool.

I hope you get it man!
A vintage 911 was sold not far from me last week. One owner 77k miles as well. Posted for just 2 hours and still someone beat me to it.
I know the feeling of disappointment and I hope you get this M3. Looks very nice too.
If they are still thinking about it, I think your cash offer is not enough to sway them on the side of selling it.
Typically adding enough premium sometimes sway the seller if they are stil inconclusive.

Not sure if OP was willing to accept that price range as he seemed more interested in a "killer deal" than paying actual market value. I also think the sellers dont' have any contractual obligation to the seller. I mean it's not like he's family or anything, just some "kid" they remember from down the street offering $XXX for the car.
If I or someone else comes along and offers more in cash, and they are willing to sell, I'm sure it would be gone without even call to OP of what the new offer is.
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

i see this as more of a case of OP trying to obtain a unicorn that is crazy hard to find at any price (with added personal value cause he lusted for this car seeing it around the block) rather than get a huge discount off unsuspecting people.

I'm not trying to find a "killer deal" or put one over on unsuspecting people. I'm merely trying to get a car I've wanted for a long time. I've already said that if my deal with them falls through then I'll let others know. I have a price that I can afford to offer and if it's too low for what they want to sell if for then no big deal, some times it just doesn't work out.
A few people have PM'd me asking for details if my deal falls through so they can try to buy the car which I have no problem doing. But I want my crack at getting it in the meantime.

hope it works out for you. I've just had crappy experiences in my past that made me realize that unless I had full asking price in mind, or at least a very reasonable offer, it always falls thru and goes to someone else

This is a dream scenario for everyone looking for an M3. Find an old owner who doesn't drive the car much anymore and hope they don't know how much the cars have appreciated over the years or a least make you a sweet deal on it. Goodluck!"I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj
