Like I said before, sell your car. Its rusty, has a swapped motor with a blown head gasket, and a slew of other problems.

As for all of this hating on the kid because his parents do well, it's uncalled for. He did not elect for his parents to provide him with nice things and he should not be ashamed of it. I certainly can't knock him because he was born into a relatively privileged life. Jealousy is a weak emotion and r3v is full of it. Give the kid a break. He spells like shit, his dad does well, he has a beat E30 and we all hate him for it. Grow up. It's not like he poped his tire and crashed into a house.

With that being said, a used and potentially beat on Evo is a dumb fucking car for someone who doesn't have the time, skill, or money to properly maintain it.

OP, clearly you don't understand the value of preventative/required maintenance so politely ask your dad buy you a new or CPO car with a solid warranty (ideally one that will not expire before you are out of college). Not having to worry about shit breaking and costing a fortune is well worth it if you have the means. No that is not as glamorous or admirable as wrenching on your own 'tuner' but at least you will have safe and reliable transportation, and chicks always flock to new cars.

When you are out of school and making money on your own buy a second car and mod the shit out of it. Then come back to r3v post a bunch of pictures, ask some stupid questions, and hopefully have a successful thread. Until then, count your blessings and enjoy a new car.

    Current Car: 2011 BMW 135i, M-Sport, 6 speed

I hope I didn't give the impression that he should be ashamed for his views. Hell, when I was his age I thought pretty much the same thing.

But then I got older and had some failures, disappointments, and struggles come my way. Even scarier is what I have seen or hear happen to friends and family around me. I don't remember the exact statistic, but something like half of Americans will spend a year or so at or near the poverty line. Yeah, plenty of people shoot themselves in the foot and for many it will occur early in life and they'll pull out of it (maybe... opportunity costs anybody?) but the point is that lots of people struggle at one time or another through no fault of their own.

Whatever car you end up with just make sure you enjoy (and maintain!) it.

      Cheers

I came in here to say this^

If you can't (ie no job) maintain an E30, you're DEFINITELY going to be in over your head in an Evo. I spent the four years before I got into E30s dealing with Evos.

        Never again.

jesus fuck!!!!!! every turn, every time you open your mouth, every time you type the smallest entry into your computer......you keep reminding us of what an immature little boy you are. i have been away from r3v for a day and a half and i count about 6+ retarded entries you have made since then.

you're killing me smallz! i promise you that nothing you have said anywhere in this thread has done a single thing to make you look like you have the smallest bit of maturity. you are making yourself look retarded.

before your fingers hit the keyboard, take a minute(maybe in your case you should take a day or two) and think about what you have to say. maybe your dad should edit your posts for you before you it the "submit reply" button.

now....i am not trying to say that you are an asshole, but come on!!! stop giving r3v so much ammunition to crucify yourself with. christ!

            another suggestion(hypothetically we will say):

if a person has to go around saying to everyone how smart they are-they are not

if a person has to go around saying how mature they are-they are not.

if a person has to go around saying to everyone how much they know the value of a dollar-they don't

              I second this.

If you apparently don't have the time, nor the money due to not having a job, how do imagine you can do necessary maintenance on the Evo when you can't on an e30? The cost of properly maintaining and modifying an Evo is a more than you probably think, and much more than it will be for an e30. Evo's are reliable if they are given proper maintenance, but when you start modifying it you'll start finding their weak spots and the maintenance costs will then increase. For someone without a job, I don't see how you can do this unless your dad will also pay for all the maintenance. It's ignorant to think your dad can buy you a new Evo and that's the end of the story.

In high school I drove a car provided for me by my dad. As soon as I graduated and got a job during college, I bought both of my cars I own now and maintain/modify them with my own money, which it makes them that much more meaningful to me. Maybe just sell your current e30 and buy a different one that's in better shape? Or just get something reliable to use during college? That way in a few years maybe when things are different you can buy the Evo you're wanting when you're in a better position to own one
