Don't know whether to sell my e30 or not

I bought my e30 at the age of 16. I'm 17 now however, I really don't know if I should sell my first car. I did a m50b25tu swap and it runs nice when it's properly maintained. It's got stock suspension and brakes which are really rusty, rust on the sunroof, between the door and front fender, engine bay, Barttary tray, and underbody,a huge waterleak on the floorboard when it rains, the coolant constantly disappears, detonates slightly sometimes, a really loose steering wheel, crap speakers, and crap cluster and their is a weird loose space in the clutch when you first want to engage, and the transmission thuds into gear and thuds when you step on the gas. The good is that, the engine internally is like new, it has a 3.45 lsd, and a good amount of tire tread left, has bbs rs, and has a nice Atlantis-Blau color. Is the car worth fixing? Is it worth dealing with the rust? Will I find decent priced nice looking e30's after I finish college? For now I'm planning on buying an evo and then after I start my career buying a perfect e30 possibly m3 and doing either a m50 turbo or s85 swap when I'm older. How much do you guys think I can get out of this car? A guy once offered me 6500$ twice and I refused.

if you do it i swear you'll regret it, i don't have mine anymore but i didn't really have a choice (r3v'ed) after it was gone i was super stoked for then next car, i ended up getting a e90 but its not the same, its dull and actually kinda boring... i actually picked up another e30 (basket case) last month and just since I've got it running again with bad brakes, blown suspension and a o2 sensor thats past due it is 100x better than the much faster and safer car, don't do it. you'll regret it.

No point in throwing your hands up on a project that has a few things wrong with it instead of sticking it out and fixing them. The satisfaction from finally getting it all sorted > the weight off your shoulders of having to work on it when you get rid of it.

Should have taken the $6500, though he was probably full of it, and got another. Something a little cleaner. All those problems you listed (especially rust) puts it closer to the $2500 range personally.

Either fix all the mechanical problems and swap everything over to a clean shell later... or sell it and buy a cleaner one to start fresh with. With all the rust, that one would be too much trouble and $$$ to fix.

It's just im going to Arizona and I only need one car. Honestly the cons outweigh the pros by a lot. Nothing beats the feeling of having your first car but, it still needs a ton of work.

What you do with the car is obviously your choice. With that being said, you should sell it.

Clearly you have no interest in fixing the issues if you overlooked all of the (some serious) issues. Instead you elected to spend money on a motor swap instead. Maintenance always comes before modifications.

Seriously, what good is a more powerful motor if you have all of these issues?

It's got stock suspension and brakes which are really rusty, the coolant constantly disappears, detonates slightly sometimes, a really loose steering wheel, and their is a weird loose space in the clutch when you first want to engage, and the transmission thuds into gear and thuds when you step on the gas.

should've sold it to the sucker who offered you $6500.... that said, being a first car you can have some tremendous satisfaction fixing all of those problems and seeing truly how great a car then E30 is.

edit: and where is the money for an EVO coming from????

I did some browsing of your previous posts...Sounds like you have a blown head gasket.

White smoke + "disappearing coolant" = blown head gasket. You need to address this ASAP. It's more likely than not that your "internally like new engine" needs to have the head rebuilt.

this thread has the potential to be another one of your epic fail threads.

if it is broken you fix it, if not you drive it like it is and risk getting stranded somewhere like....i don't know....how about compton?

if neither of those options work for you, sell it. i don't think you can expect 6500 bucks from anyone with the grocery list above. take the wheels and the 3.45 off and set your expectations probably somewhere south of 3k..

I dont want to turn this thread into a head gasket thread but I have no creamy substance in the oil fill cap. Plus my dad is gunna hook it up with the evo I guess.
