I enjoyed having a convertible. I'll get another one someday.

        Thanks for the replies, fellas!

Do any of you have rear shock tower braces? Do they provide any noticeable stiffening?

What do you like LEAST about your 'vert?

Do you recommend a manual or a power top?

Are tops easy to install DIY? The car I am looking at has a blue interior and top --- I will swap the interior out, and would like to change the blue top to a black top.

The car I am looking at is a white '88 w/ blue interior, automagic, manual top. I have an MTech1 kit that I thought about installing, to make the car extra-purty :)

        Thanks for the help,

I loved mine, but the kid made a swap from cab to touring back in the days.
like said before, on the autobahn, its loud, if you like music, give it up, and be prepared to have a wet interior.
I do everything on my cars, but wouldnt even think about doing the top. chech or poland can do a new top for about 800eur.
I will have a drop top again, so what I guess i am saying is-- go for it!

Look at my forum name and tell me if you think I like my vert! Hard top's are way to confining for my taste and I tend to prefer the open air feeling of ripping down the highway with less between me and the road.
Did my own top replacement as well with German cloth last year and it was no where near as hard as I had orignally thought.

Dont buy the semi-automatic top. I have heard time and time again that the motors get out of alignment (so one side brings the top down or up at a different rate than the other) and that tends to cause the motors to break. Then you end up disengaging the motors and you have a manual. Just start with the manual if you can. It takes me less than a minute and 1/2 to get the top unlatched and stowed. Thats inlcuding laying a microfiber protective cloth across the inside of the plastic rear window.

i really like my car. but my car is different. i like to take out just the center section of my roof so that i can still hear my rear speakers. but it looks damn sexy when the entire top is down. i hear a lot of rattles when the top is up, but they are only noticable if the music is not on. i HATE when bird poo gets on the top because it can really eat away the fabric, and fuzzy things always cling to the top too. other than that, a convertible is really cool. the car feels bigger than a coupe when you are sitting in it. not to mention its pretty easy to get a tan when the top is down .

                      I <3 my convertible.

I don't remember when my top was last up. Even in the rain I drive with it down, only when I am parked in the rain is the top up.

The only thing that bothers me is my power top. It's broken

Do any of you live somewhere that's real hot? Like, say, south Georgia, or a comparable climate?

That's where I will probably live (I'm moving soon) --- so wondering if the car is still fun when it's that hot outside.

My other car is an s2000, so I can't comment on the power vs. manual top debate. But I can tell you I LOVE my drop-top. Rarely is the top up, even in the blistering hot sun of Charlotte, NC. Atlanta has simialar weather, so I think you'll be fine. You'll jsut have to get used to the humidity. From what I remember of Germany, it's pretty dry there.

I'm sorry if you feel that insecure about yourself... but thanks for sharing.

as far as heat goes, I live in Texas. the heat is usually bearable, but its the humidity that makes it uncomfortable when the top is down. but as long as your moving its not bad at all.

only thing diff about e30 cab seats is that there is a tab insert in the frame that prevents the seat from reclining all the way down.
