          None of them. I would say F20C. N/A 2000cc engine with 240hp. Don't forget 9k redline

^ No, having driven an F20'02 (which was underwhelming enough), doing it to an e30 (short of adding FI) doesn't sound like a great idea.

The number sounds nice on paper but you really have to keep it wound up to have any fun.

Seriously, what makes you say that ?

I've never seen someone complain about f20c especially in s2k. Perfect engine in perfect chassis. It is one of the best naturally aspirated engine of all time with winning best engine of the year several times.

I guess the one you drove was poorly maintaned. Otherwise its silly to call f20c underwhelming.

I contemplated the 1uz swap, 4 liter quad cam aluminum v8. Whats not to love. Especially the way they sound with itb's. Ugh

Look … the f20 itself is a great motor, I love driving an s2000 whenever the chance arises. If you get the chance to go drive an f20*02 go for it (the one I drove and the others I've ridden in were not ā€œpoorly maintainedā€). It is certainly is faster than a stock car. BUT the driving experience, compared to other 2002's (of all styles) I've driven and/or been in, is simply not as fun as other options for me.

Reality can differ to what is on paper.

I guess its what you expect from the car or engine. I love small and mid size n/a engines that are capable for high revs. and hps. so thats what I would to for my dream setup. 240z with f20c engine.

It does happen a lot, but thankfully the broken tab stays put most of the time, and doesn't bounce off the timing chain.
